I realise I may be posting in the wrong forum I apologize in advance if the mods know a better place on boards please let me know or just move this post.

I'm on back to education allowance my medical card expired last year sometime; I have next to no money and I really need to see a doctor but I'm scared to death of the cost as I think it will require a hospital visit (it's not psychosomatic I hate doctors but I'm in so much pain right now I cant sleep and I'm starting to worry), I have just applied to get my medical card renewed and I wanted to know is there any sort of emergency medical card I can get?

If you undergo treatment and are billed afterwards, just call the hospital's admin and quote your invoice number and the number of your medical card, whenever you receive it.

We did something similar a number of years ago, when a family member's medical card wasn't to hand, and the hospital had no record of them on file; there was no issues with later quoting the medical card number to hospital admin when we'd finally gotten our hands on the card.

A better read poster may enlighten you to the legitimacy of such an approach, but the above proved effective for us in the past.

    Get well soon.

I'll move your thread to the State Benefits forum OP. You might get more info there.
