    Hi folks,

Wondering about getting a travel guitar, just for messing about/practicing in the evenings and that when i go on holidays.

Anyone got any recommendations? Anything unusual with them i should be aware of?

Not going to spend a lot (there are some on amazon for 100 quid-ish).

Oh, and probably (but not definitely) acoustic.

    Thanks a million.

Baby taylor is the only one worth looking at.

cheap, travel and guitar are three words that don't go well together.

although I DID have a sojing silent guitar I got off ebay. Once I changed the nut & saddle for bone, it was actually quite nice..... cost about £75 I think......

with the advantage that with your ipod headphones you can play all night and not annoy the floks in the next room......

    Cool, thanks.

Do you buy guitars online much? Im reluctant to buy one i havent played at all. Very small selection in bricks & mortar stores that i can see.

As someone who's build 90 odd instruments, buying sight unseen doesn't scare me.

I've bought all sorts, tinkered a bit and then flipped them on.

    Guitars, banjos, mansolins, even cellos.

never had a total turkey, infact, buying an instrument that is less than, say, 15 years old, you SHOULD be safe ebnough, so long as it wasn't an ultra budget instrument to start with.

I bought an Ashton Joeycoustic a few years ago to take on holiday. I think I paid €100 for it, but I'm not sure what they would cost now as this was about six years ago. I think it's designed as a starter guitar more than a travel guitar, but it has a pretty good sound. It sounds rubbish with any string gauge lower than twelve though.

Here's a photo I took of it while on holiday.
