Best headphone sound?

    I'm in the market for a new phone as the contract on my GS2 is almost done. Obviously there's a whole load of phones on the market now or on the way but I wanted to see what phone sounds the best through headphones. I've seen a few people mention the Xperia Z as sounding amazing, and I have to admit that it's a beautiful phone, but I've never used HTC so don't know if Beats makes any difference.

    I know the quality of the sound can be manipulated through EQ or a particular app, but if any of the new phones on the market have surprised you with the quality of the sound through headphones please let me know!

    As personal opinion on sound quality varies so much, I'd suggest bringing your headphones and a memory card with a few songs to a shop and trying a few - assuming you are able to of course.

    I have a HTC One X and with Beats and my current headphones I have to say its the best sound I have ever got.

    I have tried installing custom roms on the phone and if it doesn't have Beats then I really notice the difference. So in my opinion Beats make a significant difference.

    I'd go for the HTC One, most reviews are saying the audio quality is one of the best they heard from any smartphone yet and the loudspeaker perfermonce is really good.

    Have a look here:

    The sound from my xperia z and Klipsch X10 earphones is mind blowing. I've never heard anything like it. The stock Walkman app is all you need.

    OP, what headphones are you going to be using? Is it going to be stored music or the radio?

    what ever you do don't be suckered into buying Beats headphones, they are overpriced rubbish

    a decent mid-range €150 pair of Sennheisers or Shure's will outperform €300 Beats hands-down

    I have a decent set of earphones;

    Thanks for the responses. I may wait until the HTC One becomes available to see what it sounds like, but will definitely check the Xperia Z out too.

    Have to agree with the x10s. Using them on a note 2,heaven.

    I think maybe put the money into decent headphones...
