    Lads and Lassies,

I need to figure out what size tires I can fit on my wheels.

I have ALEX-ACE-19 rims which have an internal rim width of 17mm.

Am I right in thinking 25mm is the absolute lowest I can go tyre wise?

According to Sheldon Brown, yes - link

Did you take the tyre off and measure the rim width yourself?

So, yeah, going by that 25mm is the skinniest tyre I culd fit on my rim?

    Thought as much.

    Cheers dude.

No, I found the rim specifications on the manufacturers website.

23mm is fine. Ive raced with 2 different 17mm internal width wheelsets matched with 23mm tyres. h plus son tb14 and sun cr18.
this season Im using kinlin xc279* rims with 17mm internal width. *(they are similar weight to the above but 28mm deep vrs 20mm) a 23mm tyre ends up measuring 25mm wide when mounted on a 17mm rim

the newer rims coming out all have 17mm internal and 25mm external so that a 23mm tyre matches to the rim perfectly for smooth aerodynamics

    23mm is fine.

I've seen a few people say this online...

I'm only asking becuase I keep finding really good tyre deals but the only sizes they have are 23mm.

I'd go for 25mm if I had the choice at the same price for the sake of the ride comfort but I found Conti grand prix for €17.77 on the planetx uk site in 23mm and that seems a bargain.

I was posting some links to show that 23mm is perfectly safe
