Westbury as Gaeilge

    Hi,

    Does anyone know what Wesbury would roughly translate to as gaeilge?

    Would it be Baile Iarthar?

    Yeah, it's a suburb of Limerick.

    Different variations of Westbury like Westbury Avenue leave it as it is on logainm.ie.

    It's not really a transaltion if the place was named in English. A literal translation may well be meaningless in Irish.

    Yes, I've noticed that before myself:). Proper nouns are so proper and have such a high opinion of themselves they just refuse to change!

    If there's a suburb, find out which townland it was built in and use that.
    You'll find out the translation of the townland name on logainm.ie
