Iv kind of gone as far as I can with free weights and machines. My focus was just building the habit of GYM use and getting some form of indiscriminate muscle.

This has lead me to the point where I now need to start using Deadlifts and Squat racks. Id also like to do power cleans. So I can actually start making my workouts far more effective.

These are the exercise that scare me as I know doing them wrong with weight is asking for a world of pain and injury.

I'm thinking of getting a personal trainer for an hour or two to make sure i'm not doing anything stupid.

    Questions?

What other risky/commonly abused exercises should I target?

Is a personal trainer the right way to go?

Learn to squat and deadlift first. No point trying to power clean when you've no strength to produce power.

Get a competent trainer to show you what's going on. Shouldn't take more than an hour or two to get the basics down, but ongoing check ups probably need to be performed so you don't progress too quickly.

Both are perfectly safe and awesome when you're not a sap about them!!
