The roads

The state of minor roads in my locality is gone beyond ridiculous.

Busted a tyre last week on the way to the creamery.
Payed 75 quid for a new one.
Paid 394 euro to tax my avensis from end feb until August.
Was caught the week before in a checkpoint out since dec. 60 quid fine.

Honestly sometimes I shake my fist at Dan Breen, devalera, Michael Collins if they had lived a quiet life we would now possibly be paying 175 pound sterling road tax for perfect roads with no pot holes.

But seriously it is unbelievable the state of the roads.

They were bad back in the 80's but they are way worse now. We will be down to dirt tracks in a few months.

If your tax was out in Dec and you got caught how did you get away without paying for Jan and Feb?

So even though you drove it while it was off the road and got caught a Garda signed the form to declare it off the road

Your tax went to the total tax pot, its not ring fenced for roads unfortunately. I'm with ya though on the state of roads. Gone to the dogs the last few years

I got a ticket one time , paid it and then left it another six months before I taxed the van . The cop stamped my form and never looked twice at it so it does happen . They dont run the reg through the system before they stamp it seems . Happy days :D

So the op pays his motor tax when he feels like it and thinks he can complain about the state of the roads  They should bring a system like the UK where you have to declare a car off the road before you take it off, then if you are caught driving it while off you will pay. That way everybody pays their share.

It is absolutey obscene paying 710 euro a year to tax a Toyota avensis.

My vet who gets 70 quid every time he gets out of the car in my yard has an 11 skoda Octavia and pays 250 a year.

Yes Sam they should bring in a system like the Uk and charge everyone the same.
