    Hi guys
Over the past while our en suite has been bitter cold but I've now put the cold down to the air from the attic is coming down through the spotlights and surrounding of the ceiling vents.
Is there anything at all I can do to fix this

    Yes.

Some downlight covers, some insulation and also an anti back draught flap on the extractor fan will cure the cold draughts entering the en-suite.

Change the downlights over to LED downlights too.:)

Also make sure that the downlight fitttings themselves are IP rated fittings and have rubber seals around them where they fit up to the ceiling.

Is it really worth doing in a small extension ?

I had focused in on the Rockwool/Knauf insulation to give the OP a better idea.

Its a nice bit of space and we are happy with it.

Roof is spray foamed, the house is entirely slabbed out with 80 and 50mm insulated slab.Tripple glazed,Solar hot water system, zoned heating system, and multi fuel stove installed for a bit of extra cosyness.

Anyway, lets get back to helping out the OP now, thanks.

I think ( and I think you would also agree??) that this is now taking away from the OPs thread...and I do not want to do that to the OP.

Appoligies to the OP for straying off topic.

    Cheers all.
Ye I have one of those draught vents as I thought that could be the issue.
I replaced a the window seals thinking that could be the issue but the room is still cold.
I took down the vents and lights and there is air coming down through small holes surrounding all of the above.
Would silicone arou d or plaster solve this?
It's just the attic is coverted and a nightmare to take everything up
The lights are led but nothing like the rubber ones u have

Ok lads did a lot of work in trying to fix this coldness today and its bloody bitter.
The back room and en suite is freezing as is the attic which consists of the whole floor plan.
Would it be worth getting a heat loss survey?
Anybody recommend someone to do it?
Fed up with this every winter

LED bulbs are way better, aren't they? Can't believe how hot the older halogen (I think) bulb used to get!

Where did you get the spotlight cover from? I presume you had to reconnect the wires to the bulb before fitting ...

I've recently had dimmable downlights (halogen version) put in various rooms in my house (by an electrician). A couple of rooms are bit cold after having the lights put in. I can feel the cold air breezing into the room when I put my hand against the lights.

Can I simply swap the dimmable halogen bulbs for dimmable LED bulbs?

    Also, where can one buy:
    1) dimmable LED bulbs?
    2) downlight fittings with rubber seals? (what IP rating do you recommend?)
    3) downlight covers?
