Ok this might sound stupid but
WHY IS THERE NO CURE FOR THE 2 NAMED ABOVE??!!

Can't chemists mix and experiment medicine by either mixing them together or some kinda potion thingy
Seems stupid, is there no way to fight and BEAT cancer?
If you get diagnosed with cancer do you just give up your life, I mean lets face it,once someone has cancer he knows him self he is going to die sooner or later. and the pain that person must be going through every day, why do people bother going to hospitals and doctors to check up,if you know that they have no cure for you??

Cancer isn't one single disease, it is a general term to describe malignant changes at a cellular level.
There are two types of diabetes. Insulin dependant diabetes occurs when the pancreas produces insufficient insulin or none at all. Non- insulin dependant diabetes occurs later in life, frequently linked to obesity. A cure would involve tricking the body into producing a hormone it can't produce naturally.

Yh they probably do but I heard that tumors stay and like they grow to other parts as well and there is no way of stoping them

If it's so easy then you should give it a go yourself.

Even if your cancer is 'treated' there are remains of the tumors floating around all over your body. They move quickly and will spread and grow. If you have a tumor in your foot and the doctor treats/removes it, there will be another one already traveling up your leg into your stomach and so on. A tumor stays a tumor, it never goes away.
This is what I learned by the web

there is! There is! I was at a swanky party and a big-shot pharma lad was sloshed- he started bragging about how they had found cures ages ago but sure there was no money in that, then he fell over. I tried to revive him and get him to repeat it, but i was feeling a bit unsteady myself and fell over him. Apparently, me falling on him caused a lot of damage, going by his roars, so I slunk off. I hope he can cure being Dworked.

Isn't this unfair to the people who get diagnosed with this
They have no way of getting out
I mean if we had a cough or flu we would know ''oh 2 spoons of syrup will make it better' but the cancer patients have nothing
When do you think they will have a cure made and how had is it to make the cure
I might genuinly try to help in nearby future

Cancer is caused by a mutation of the cell's DNA so it can't control the rate by which it divides properly. So you're trying to develop something to bind to these specific markers at a tiny molecular level and destroy them, but there are so many variations of cancer that arise from different sections of the genome, it's going to be an extremely difficult task to accomplish.

I don't believe medicine will achieve it, I think it'll be the development of biotechnology that will play the biggest part in eradicating cancer specifically and effectively without damaging the whole body like chemotherapy does currently.

Syrup won't cure a cold of flu.

I was diagnosed with cancer. I didn't have nothing. I was lucky and surgery cured me. There was also the option of radiotherapy. I haven't had a recurrence though I do have regular appointments to keep an eye on it.

Cancer is an all encompassing term. One cure will not fix all

Treating cancer is not like the law of conservation of mass so that the cancer always remains, just somewhere else. You can treat cancer, and if secondary tumours appear elsewhere they can be treated too.

Acinic Cell Carcinoma. Tumour in my salivary gland. Removed the tumour and gland 5 years ago and no sign of it since. There's no guarantee it won't return but nothing yet. There's nothing there now though.

Obviously I've been affected mentally but yes I am perfectly healthy and fit.

You should really do some more, proper, research on cancer. You don't seem to have a clue of what it really is or what it involves.

Who the hell cares about IQ? They're flawed and completely irrelevant to real life. The fact that you brought up IQ, which I presume you got from an online IQ test tells just how mature you are..

As for the thread, OP there are tons of research out there to cure different types of cancer but unfortunately nobody has found any cure yet and it's not a case of one cure fits all.

P.S.: IQ of 108 is far from "really smart"

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 759 ✭✭✭Man City 10

If your body fought it then why do doctors give you the syrup and those medicine, why don't they let the body do all the work

I know these sound stupid questions but one of my family member is diagnosed and I just want to learn more about it so I can help and understand

    108 isn't a high IQ, but fair enough, you're 15.

You're gonna be shockingly embarrassed by all this in a few years time

If there was a cure for the flu why is there a new flu jab out every winter? It keeps mutating and changing so we always need a new vaccine. There's no cure though.

A doctor won't give you anything for a flu. It's a virus. There is no cure.

Medication is given to treat the symptoms, not the virus. Some doctors prescribe antibiotics simply to get patients out the door as quickly as possible.
