    From the article:
An Alfa-styled saloon on Maserati’s platform? Tell me more…

Alfa’s ‘new 166’ has been fast-tracked thanks to Maserati’s new Ghibli. A sports saloon sitting beneath the Quattroporte limo in the Maserati range, the Ghibli will rival regular established super-saloons, like the BMW M5, Mercedes E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S.

The rear-wheel drive Ghibli uses a shortened Quattroporte platform with downsized engines – which Alfa Romeo will borrow to create is very own executive saloon model. It should make for agile driving dynamics, all for a fraction of the cost of developing a bespoke Alfa chassis.

The bolded part claiming the 169 will reuse a Maserati chassis simply sounds like pie in the sky bull$hit. I cannot imagine the numbers checking out; a new lowish volume "super saloon" chassis being re-used for a high(ish) volume mid-size exec commuter?

I know. It's too good to be true. I'll believe it when I finally see an official unveiling. IF they pull it off, I will be extremely impressed. The last Alfa to drive the correct wheels was the 75, and that is nearly 25 years old. I accept that smaller Alfas don't have to be rear wheel drive (especially with the next 1 series being wrong wheel drive), but a 3 series and especially a 5 series competitor should only be RWD.

Oh no, if its good and has a shiote/rock hard suspension, LED lights and driving position suitable for 5 foot 3 inch man or 16 stone woman then all the Audi drivers will be over looking for a spin. That would be such a shame
