Decathlon Reccomendations

    Hey,

I'll be hitting up Decathlon in London next month hoping to stock up on much needed cycling and (running...) gear since I'm mostly operating on Lidl stuff and with my commitment to a life of Student Penury I can't afford to buy proper branded stuff (have one plain blue Altura Jersey and one pair of Night Vision Leggings).

So I'm looking to the wise heads of the forum for two schools of advice:
    1. General - what stuff to stock up on - I have a roadbike and also commute on a hybrid - aiming for Sportives, maaybe racing but probably not.

    2. Specific i.e. Particular things in Decathlon are particularly good or not worth it.

Also, I won't be getting a second (third bike) just to head that one off, I'd love to get a Triban 3 for a Winter bike...but I got married and gave up all such freedoms.

Look in the football/rugby section for Kipsta base layers, they're excellent and I prefer them to the cycling base layers.

Bib shorts and tights are really good, and if on offer can represent really good value. Favour the "5" and "7" series, ditto for jerseys. The "3" (might be called "blue", they call the "produit bleu" in the french stores) I personally find fine for short spins, commutes and the like. They're streets ahead of the Lidl versions and you can't argue about the price!

Big fan of Decathlon stuff. Agree with spending the extra tenner on "5" or "7" stuff.

This is the best mtb jacket Ive ever used.

Totally waterproof and highly breathable. I run hot () and wear it all the time without sweating too much.

It uses their version of Goretex, Novadry.

I would highly recommend their '7' winter tights great pad, windproof panels and very warm. They really do discount heavily this time of year on winter stuff. Just have a really good look around as they always seem to have random discounts on various stuff like pedals/tubes/shoes etc.
