Another Car Suggestion Thread!

Sorry I know these posts have been done to death but you all seem to know what you are talking about and I could do with the help!

I need a new car-I just got rid of my Nissan Micra (my first car) and I'm on the lookout for a new car.
I have 2 young children (1 and 5) so boot space is important, ideally I'd love a girlie//reliable/safe hatchback type for for roughly €4k! Am I asking for too much? Nothing too big too.

I saw a Seat Altea on Done Deal recently that seems perfect but it's gone now-are these car reliable?
I'd also love a Golf but doubt i'd get one for my budget. I might be able to stretch slightly above budget if I were to find something that would last me 5 years at least.

Try an octavia its basically a golf in the fact that its a vag car and the two share alot of the same parts. They are normally alot cheaper. The have an absolute huge boot ideal for prams etc. as for reliability they are very reliable. Just ensure to get whatever car you buy looked over by a good mechanic.

Thanks for that-looks really good and I like the high driving position but prob too far the far end of €4k for me but i'll look out for them now too online in my price range-if I got one in my price range it could be perfect!

High mileage so may not be the most reliable if your looking for 5 years out of it. Do you do high mileage yourself?

No I wouldnt be doing high mileage,it'd be the 2nd family car so it'll be for weekends mostly(not for work) and the odd trip up to Donegal(when my husband isnt driving).

Can't see you finding a nicer astra tbh than ardennes one
He's after spending a bit recently on preventative maintenance recently too which is very rare as he knew he'd be selling it.

Thanks RoverJames and Ardennes1944- I don't think that'd be possible for me. I'd have to get someone to check the car for me (as you can tell I know very little!) so it'd be easier for me trying to get from the Dublin area. But again I do like the style of the Astra and it ticks the boxes so thanks for the suggestion!
