False advertising ????

hey i am with o2, i am confused not just with o2 but every network . i am on offer 20 euro a month for umilited texts every network its great but i found out fair usage policy 5 thousand texts a month and if go over ur charged normal rate.


What i dont get is why say unlimited if its not only go up to 5,000 aint it false advertising to customer?
its not just o2 found out same with 3 , vodafone , tesco mobile nd so on just dont get why they cant be unlimited like said free totally no fair usage. i text alot so dont like thought if go over 5 000 i be charged when says unlimited .

5000 texts in a month is so many that it might as well be unlimited. If you even come close Id be shocked.

Its a text every 5 minutes you're awake. unless you text in single letter communication, or text while you sleep then I wouldn't worry.

haha ur so funny lol it more so fact i dont like them saying its unlimited when it not really that annoys me ha be more cool saying ye can go over 10 thousand texts nd still unlimited u know . but ye dont think i ever go over that amount so many but just way says unlimited when its not haha

If you get a good data plan with the network, then you won't need to worry about fair usage, especially with the likes of viber and whatsapp.

ye i heard of them but its the annoying have go on internet all time what i dont like as it takes up alot my battery since i text alot as well i dont want to be going on net all time

Its simply a fair usage policy to stop people taking advantage of the network by sending spam texts, every single network has the same fair usage type policy along with the likes of internet providers.

For example if internet providers actually supplied an unlimited amount of download capacity you'd almost certainly get idiots downloading untold amounts of rubbish they don't even need.

Thats what fair usage means. they are allowing you to use the service for texting your friends and family. Not using it the way it was intended would be 'unfair' so they limit it.

If you genuinely text over 5k texts a month to your friends and family i am sure they would up your limits or waive the charges.

ah i get u now that makes sense when u say it alright i never thought about it that way people downloading more than need or sending silly things. reason for everything . how come bill pay seem have more minutes nd texts for plan to pay as u go . or is that just a better deal to get people go on bill phones?

ah i get u now thanks explaining that it all makes more sense now . would u recommend bill pay i always pay as u go but sometimes wonder would bill pay be good for change?

Its because on bill you sign up to a contract for a specific period of time meaning they are guaranteed your money for x number of months, whereas on PAYG they are not.

what do you use? figure that out then go with what fulfils it at the cheapest cost.

There isnt much difference between bill pay and payg in the bigger picture.

Youll get subsidised handsets with bill pay, but a minimum contract.
youll have to buy your own pones on payg but you dont need to meet the contract each month.

Top up each month for a set fee with Payg and youll get extra benefits, if you miss a month then you dont get those benefits until you top up again.

figure out exactly what you need and get the one that suits you.

Paying 30 euro a month for 15gb or unlimited internet is pointless if you use 500mb a month.
I rarely call anyone, ever. but I text a fair amount and use internet a lot. So Three was good, as I can combine my minutes and texts together and get unlimited internet. On the rare occasion i call someone then there are apps to help if i go near my allowance maximum.

some people make a mistake here believing that they are saving money over a contract.

"oh sure, i only top up a tenner a month"
they usually forget the time they ran out of credit and bought 2 one month, then the "extra one or two at Christmas, and we had to top up on holiday cos it went so fast"

I worked out that my father ( who claimed 10 a month) was on average topping up 25+ a month. so for him it was better cheaper to get a contract and a subsidised phone. instead of spending 100+ on a phone and continuing to spend more than he though on pay and go.

Work out truthfully what you use (your phone will keep track of messages and minutes etc) and figure your best option.

Just as an aside, I noticed that under eMobile's fair usage policy they limit landline calls on their unlimited plans to 45,000 mins a month. Considering the longest months only have 44,640 mins, that's pretty good value.

Prices include VAT. Fair usage policy applies of 45,000 minutes, 10,000 texts and 15GB of data a month applies to Unlimited plans

Like I said, figure out what you use. get the deal that fulfils it.
I havent memorised every network deal, and I dont know really how much you use so Im not gonna pick one for you.

if you dont want to put the effort in to find the best deal then stick with o2. they seem nice.
plus they give you o2 deals, which is handy

no probs, if youre staying with o2 make sure you use the priority moments, they give some good discounts.

I use the cabbage app on Android so I also get an extra 300 webtexts, you have to have either data or WiFi network to send them though...

It goes straight from your phone book, handy enough...

I'm with Three and pay €20 a month for "unlimited" texts (I believe their fair usage is 3000 texts?) to all networks, free calls to all networks on weekends (unsure as to what their fair usage policy is on that, but haven't gone over it yet), free calls and texts to other Three customers and "unlimited" internet (their policy is 15GB a month). This suits me perfectly, as I would use internet on my phone quite a lot; viber, whatsapp, Google maps, etc. etc.

Sometimes I struggle to ever spend the €20 a month.

To use Cabbage you don't need to be connected all the time..... Only when sending!!

And you normal wifi or Data allowance will cover the connection cost, it's almost nothing in data terms.

Certainly less than paying for texts.

I guarantee you will not notice the Battery drain... I honestly can't figger out how you use ur phone...

You shud take advise when given, not be asking and then finding reasons not to take the advice!!

3 Mobile give an unlimited amount of downloads on the classic max flex plan. No fair usage that I can find. Unlimited.
40.66 euro a month for 350 flexi units and unlimited internet usage.

Just unlimited data.
350 flexi units. 1 flexi unit is 1 minute of a call or 2 text messages. Use the flexi units however you like.
