as far as i can tell, ryanair change their prices every tuesday and friday. their flights tend to be at their best price 6/8 weeks or so before you intend to travel. i travel to UK a bit, the days of 1p/€1 flights are long gone, the cheapest I've seen in the past 12 months are around €20 each way incl tax & charges

Thanks for the replies, I'm looking at booking flights to Ibiza at the end of July, I've been watching them for the last 5 weeks or so and they have'nt changed from €334. Aerlingus are slightly cheaper but the flight times are terrible. Do I book now or do I wait until closer to the time?

i can only give advice on dublin to faro for you as we've been going here for the past number of years

last year the aerlingus flights went from around 200return up to 500return for july and they never came down, especially the first weekend of july, those just seemed to go up and up. however, ryanair's flights did reduce in price nearer the time. i know the prices of the dublin to faro route, so i know how much i'm willing to spend on a flight. if aerlingus does have a sale in june, they could offer 20euros off that price of 335, not that much. again, we can only speculate!!

personally i'd rather go with the better flight times!

Ryanair flight times can be changed up to 4 weeks before departure.
last year the aerlingus flights went from around 200return up to 500return for july and they never came down, especially the first weekend of july,

That first weekend in July is one of the bussiest and many EI flights are almost full which will explain the prices.

That's a great price but I need to go go July 25th to August 1st and its coming in at €314.11.....I think I shall play the waiting game and hope it doesn't back fire

Delete your cookies and renew your IP address.
As someone who worked on a major airlines booking system i can tell you that they know who is looking at the same flights often and will keep the price nice and high for that person as they know they are more than interested in taking that flight.
By the way, revenue do the same for the VRT system :)

I managed to book them on April 10th for €291, just checked them and they are gone up to €406

    This actually works!
For the last 2 weeks, was looking for cheap flights and the price (450e-500e)stay the same all the time. Yesterday l did what it said above and this morning, the price has gone down to 340e. So happy now:):)

are we better off using skyscanner, so aerlingus/ryanair can't track whose looking up particular flights or can the airlines still monitor via skyscanner

    thanks for the heads up

Im supprised they didnt have a 1 cent sale to celebrate O'Learys next 5 years. To be honest the days of 1 cent or 1 euro flights with Ryanair are gone. Seems 19.99 is the permanent deal these days.

wait, so the price didnt go down instantaniously? BS then, it could have changed overnight. ive never seen any proof of this cookies proof. not for ryanair at least

As someone has already mentioned, if you use Google Chrome, go in to 'incognito mode' and search the flights again. The price will have one down. Or else delete cookies, only found this out recently and it works:)

You could be right but as l said before, the price was the same for the last 2 weeks and l have been checking it out every evening waiting for the price to come down and when l cleared the cookies, it did come down. (It could have came down instantly as l didn't checked the price straight away, so l really don't know) but it is a coincidence!
Still it doesn't matter, l got it cheap and l'm happy:)

How does that work? Surely there is a set list price, and the vrt will always be a percentage of that?

There has been plenty of times where ive been checking flights for a few weeks for them to come down as evreryone knows they tend to go down about 3months beforehand. But obviously they can increase as the cheap seats go.

ryanair has in the past completly denied this practice of raising the fares and i believe them. If i was thinking of going somewhere and checked the flights a few times im more than likely not set on going on that trip, a price increase would seriously put me of buying

Depends on the browser you asre using. Do a google search for deleting cookies 'browser type'

Really its not worth it though. I regularly check flights on ryanair and they go up and down without ever deleting my cookies. The 'normal' trend is
    Start Low
Go up after X number of seats bought (Repeat as more seats get bought)
Go down with a couple of months to go is the seats aren't selling.
Go up a lot in the last week.

Thats just general though and from my own experience. Of course there are exceptions. I nearly always buy as soon as they come out if I know I am definitely going to use them or else wait until a couple of months before. I would never buy flights 2-5 months before using them.

I will usually track flight prices even after I buy them just for research and out of curiosity.

Speaking from experience- deleting cookies does work

Anyone else notice that general cost of flights to malaga for next year are pricey compared to previous years? Aer lingus are actually cheaper at the moment..

i'm watching flights to portugal and yes, they are at their most expensive in the 5 years we've being going to portugal. aerlingus was cheaper a couple of weeks ago....but i can now see them going up 10/20euros every 2 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,208 ✭✭✭keithclancy

Me neither .. no difference in having incognito mode/different IP address. (German/Dutch)

When the price goes up I check on a machine in Germany and its the same.

When it goes back down its the same.

Try flying from shannon. There is currently no taxes on the flights and are about €80-€100 each depending on day etc

Because they're cheaper by about €20 but still not cheap. Flights right now are far more expensive than usual considering I'm looking to book flights so far in advance. I book around this time every year for the following June or September!

Quick one and rather than start a new thread – I’m due to book flights from London over the August UK bank holiday to Alghero Sardinia airport and the cheapest direct flights with Ryanair are coming in at just under £250.

I’m in the classic two minds, do I a) wait till the 6-8 week period prior to the flight to try and get it cheaper or do I b) book the flights now as they only ever go up given its over a bank holiday weekend.

As I say I’m totally in two mind. I wish the party of people I’m going with went for a weekend in May or June when flights are £50 return!
