Getting rid of an old car, scrap it or other option?

I have an old 01 Polo and the power steering went on it a few months ago, I've been driving it away since but the NCT is due next month, which it's not going to pass. I took it to the mechanic and he told me it needs a new power steering rack which would cost more than the car is worth. I've decided to share my gf's car…

I've decided to share my gf's car for the time being so I won't be using it for a trade in. Is selling it for scrap the best/only option? How much should I looking to get for it?

€300 would be a decent price. Since you can drive it to them you should get money for it.
