Might be of interest to some, although I would hope not :P

Im actually pretty shocked looking at the specs, not in a good way either. Its basically identical to the 650D with a new name badge. I mean, I know theres usually only small incrimental differences between the entry level upgrades but with this...as far I can see...theres none. Except what they're calling "Creative Filters" which seem to just be a few novelty filters that can be applied to live view...well that certainly justifies a whole new model

I was more shocked at the 100D, 700 euro body only...

Its a bit mad alright but at least you could argue its a different product. They've basically repackaged the 650D with less new features then your average firmware fix and slapped a few hundred euro on the retail price. Cheeky ****es!!

bit stupid. sure there's feck all difference between the 600d and 650d. think a fancy touch screen and that's about it?
certainly doesn't justify a new model. i think they are going a bit mad now bringing out new cameras all the time...

I think there were a few under the hood differences too, digic 5 instead of digic 4 etc. It didnt seem to make a huge difference though, but even still at least the touchscreen made it distinguishable from the previous version. This one really is no different at all. Just for ****s and giggles Im very temped to wait until its released and go into a camera shop that have both and completely play dumb. Enquire about the 700D and ask why its better then the 650D (and no doubt a few hundred euro more expnsive too) just to see what kind of BS sales pitch I get :P

fair play if you do.. i despise the bs sales pitches. they make me cringe. i remember some chap telling me not to get a 7D, cos it was crap and that i needed the 5d

Does it help bring prices down though? Once the 700D is out you can pick up the 650D a lot cheaper and it's essentially the same camera.

    A blast of cheap cost-effective second-hand pre-loved 650Ds on adverts.ie?

    This is getting ridiculous.

    Oh sales people!! :p

I suppose that is one good thing though. The price of the 650D will drop so anybody in the market for one who does their research will esentially pick up the same camera for a bit less.

Im guessing this was partially due to the introduction of the Digic 6 processor which is rumoured to be in the 7d mkII. If Im not mistaken its already confirmed to be in some upcoming Powershot model. The Digic 4 processor was around a lot longer then the 5 so perhaps they were just thinking they needed to squeeze just one more XXXD model out of the Digic5 as it was only used in one so far (I think the 4 was used in 3 of them). No matter what the justification, its still pretty crappy just rebadging the same camera with a new price tag.

The new Digic 6 point and shoot is very nice:

Very nice, so they've finally broke the 1080/60fps barrier. That probably means that will be in the new DSLR's featuring the Digic 6 too. Im tinkering with the idea of a body upgrade towards the end of the year so it might be worth holding off to see what gets announced for early 2014. I think they've already suggested that there is an improved 5D in development. Its probably not coming any time soon but still worth bearing in mind.
