Currently playing with Wilson Fat Shafts but not really happy with them. Just wondering are Nike VR Pro Cavity Irons a decent club that I should consider upgrading to.

I play off a Handicap of 18 and could really do with becoming a more consistent striker of the ball.

I'd say Rory has a few sets on e-Bay :pac:

    I have these.

    They work well for me.

Honestly all clubs are good if you are striking well. It's not the club that improves your swing or ball striking.

Bit of forgiveness in them which is good for not such a good strike.

Hit them in the shop see how they feel.

I know that the club will not do much better if the swing is poor but a change I feel could be beneficial mentally I reckon

Just as an aside here, sorry for drifting slightly off topic.

Was looking at the new Nike Driver during the week when down at the range & noticed there is a sizeable hollowed out section at the back of the clubhead. Anybody any idea about what the aim of this is? Is it just to lighten the clubhead for a bit of extra speed?

It's the first cavity back driver.
    Forgiveness.

Its essentially a cavity back on the driver. Put more weight on the toe and heel to resist twisting on off center hits and help keep them straighter with minimal loss of distance

Yep will have a beneficial effect mentally until you have your first bad round with them and then that all disappears. You're back to square one then having spent several hundreds on new clubs. Much better off with some lessons and visits to the range to practise afterwards.

I'd love to see them put a different marketing spin on it!

Nike Covert Driver: The first driver to really revolutionise golf for all amateurs.... We've taken a chunk outta the head so ye can fit the FN driver into the boot of your car.

Was looking at these last night, halpenny are giving 80e ( equates to 27%)off a trade in driver, any second hand driver, they sure do look sexy in a golf kinda way that is, reviews so far are pretty favourable, mark cross field speaks highly about them. He has done a comparison between standard and tour model.

I got them recently. Great value. They're way down in price because the VRS irons are out now and they come with 4-SW which many other sets don't so you don't have to spend extra on a hybrid and/or an extra wedge.

I went from a second hand set of PING G2s and while I wasn't really unhappy with them, I wanted clubs with grips, shaft and lies that were more suited to me and an off the shelf set of these did that for me (wouldn't be the case for everyone though).

The main thing I've noticed since I started using them is that I'm playing more consistently and my scores are doing down.

I've noticed that I've added a distance with my irons (1-1½ clubs - with almost the exact same lofts) and in an odd way, they seem more forgiving.

Now, I've been playing and practicing a lot more recently and have made efforts to improve my swing especially with my irons so I can't say how much of my improvement is down to the irons and how much is down to me.

As for the forgiveness, they feel harsher on miss-hits than my old clubs yet bizarrely the outcome on these harsh feeling miss-hits is quite pleasing. So they seem to be forgiving while giving you feedback.

All this considered, at best they are an improvement on my old Ping G2s and at worst they are equally as good (and I consider Ping G2s to be quite a good set of clubs and I'm sure plenty will agree with that.)

I don't think you'll go wrong with them especially at the price they are now at.
