Aintree tipping comp ?

Who'd be up for it from the regular posters on the forum?
I think it could be a good idea, some much needed fun, (particularly with all the sniping, sillynes and bitching going on here lately) and it'll sort the men from the boys

We can keep it simple, and on the run up to it we can draw up the list of entants, maybe by agreeing on this thread if you want in..

Simple rules:

* Selections have to be in before 12 noon on the day of the race, no exceptions.

* A daily thread set up for the entrants to post selections and subsequently closed by a Mod after the deadline so it doesnt get clustered.

* 10 points a day to use in any way you wish.


Thats as simple as it should be imho.

My finances are slightly better than Cyprus, but not by much, after a toilet Cheltenham. Looking forward to a better Aintree.

For this yeah Im interested although not if there is any money at stake.

I will give it a go as well, Instead of giving a load more points for the National day why not just give a point allocation just to be used on the Naional if people want extra

Just extra points on the GN itself I think is a good idea. Maybe double points, treble could be too much.

If i get enough interested, I'll start a daily thread purely for this competition, (the first thread possibly tonight)and i'll set up a deadline time of around 12.30pm for final entries.

Seems like a good few are up for it, so happy days.

I want to keep the rules as simple as possible.

1) 7 points a day to use as you wish.
There are 7 races so you can use a point in each if you want. Singles only.

2) Selections must be in by 1pm.
That gives you an hour up to the first race. Adequate time to get them in. No exceptions for late entry.

3) You score your own points!
This involves honesty. Simply quote your own selections in the thread AFTER the final race and only after the final race. Put your win/lose beside each selection and then a total score. I'll then total all the scores for everyone in the thread. I trust everyone to be honest here.

4) Double points for the Grand National.
Only on one selection. Please clearly state your nominated horse for double points if you're selecting more than one runner.

SP's will be used to calculate points (fairest way)


Please don't clog up the daily thread with posts. Selections only. Please adhere to this.There will be other daily threads for all the nonsense talk!! Use this thread for any comments or whatever regarding how you're doing etc etc.

I'll set tomorrow's thread up in a while. In the meantime if you've any comments lash them out at me now and get them over with. I'm happy with the rules but if you've any concerns please say.

Can I suggest one extra rule? - Only double points on one selection in the Grand National, will avoid people having 3 or 4 shots at it within their daily limit and getting double points if any of them win.

If you want to have 2 or more selections in the Grand National, you have to nominate which one will be open to double points should he win?

SP's makes sense. The less variables the better. Otherwise A will say he got 16/1 tonight, B will say he got 29/1 on betfair, and C will say she only got 8/1 SP. Its a tipping competition, not a price comp.
