Looking for somebody, they want a 17 inch laptop, use it for multitabling poker and the odd game of medieval war II, quite old. Integrated gfx is all that needs I would guess. Something with an i5+, budget up to 600-700. If that doesn't need to be spent and he can get something decent that's grand!

    At a glance, something like:

    http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_V3-771G_1303133.html

Obv looking for the best deal so will keep looking.

    You could look at adverts?
Not exact but reasonable and open to offers

Thanks, but he doesn't want a second hand laptop or a 15 inch one, only second hand kinda one he would consider would be something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-K56CA-750GB-4GB-LAPTOP-WITH-WINDOWS-8-/350725402637?clk_rvr_id=460796680178 3rd gen i5 (dual core not single core like it says)

Saw this for 230£ http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/price-dropped-free-code-hp-650-core-i3-windows-8-laptop-charcoal-black-c5c49ea-345-1502772?page=7#comments but I think he'd prefer an i5, pref 3rd gen.

Most the ones I see are 15 inch dammit.

Yes, the Tosh is the better choice. Faster processor and better GPU than the Acer.

If you want a full HD screen, have a look at the PCS Voyager II, £572 with similar specs and the 1920x1080 display. (If you already have an operating system, you can order without Wundows and save about 100 yoyos)

Same specs as above minus the GT 645M, since you mentioned, "integrated gfx is all that needs". Intel HD 4000 is certainly good enough for Poker and Medieval Wars II. Personally I'd swap the HDD for the 120 GB Kinston SSD (£576).

Also remember the delivery costs to Ireland, SoL is charging a Tenner, PCS want £19.

Thanks, annoying how it doesn't show all prices in drop down.

Also worth noting, that these chassis have two HDD bays.

A SSD really makes all the difference (anyone who ever had a solid state drive never want to see a platter hard drive again, even poker players want their computers fast and responsive), add a HDD for mass storage if required (500 GB, £44).
