Food expenses

I am self employed and work all over the country and have heard 3 different answers to the question on food as an expense. Can someone please clarify as I have heard 3 different situations.

1= You cannot claim for food in any way.
2= You can claim for food as an end of year expense including VAT.
3= You can claim for food as an end of year expense but you cannot claim for the vat

I'd advise getting backup verification from your accountant however before you act!

None of those 3 are correct, and I hope none of them are your tax advisor.

Thanks to both of you. The link cleared things up for me.

I will talk to my accountant again and print off the pdf link as he said

But Iwas working with another guy doing the same job who is also self employed and his accountant told him
3= You can claim for food as an end of year expense but you cannot claim for the vat

I am unsure were I heard
2= You can claim for food as an end of year expense including VAT.
