Anything coming up or out already that will rival the S4?

What are my options if I don't feel like going the S4 route? Also, anyone know how much of a step up the battery on the s4 will be vs the s3 (if at all)?

Probably better off looking at the Nexus 4 instead of 5, by time you get your hands on the 5 the newest Galaxy be on the way.

Although the Galaxy S4 is a better spec then the Nexus, if you would like a no contract phone, then you should check out the Nexus 4.

The S4 will have 20% bigger battery but with the bigger screen and processor it might not necessarily last much longer than the S3 battery.

I would say the HTC one is the only real competition for the S4 in the next few months. It's looking like we will be getting the S4 with the snapdragon processor here, rather than the octo core which is meant to offer better battery life.

This means the one and the s4 will have the same processor, and you only need to decide between the pros and cons of each.

S4 pros:removable storage and battery (if you use either), loads of software features.

One pros: screen, boomsound, better camera for lowlight everyday situations.

I still don't know which one I'll get, maybe both.

As a side note, if battery life is important to you and you can handle the size, just get a Note 2.

Google IO is in May. If rumour is to be believed they could very well launch the first Google X Phone! This might also be the launch pad for Key Lime Pie. Im guessing both are correct. As to when it will ship could be a different story.

Motorola X phone is the big thing to look out for in the coming months, its apparently not a Google phone and not part of the Nexus range but rumours are it will be a decent Motorola phone running Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie (unskinned hopefully).

Its shrouded in secrecy and the rumours of its spec are intriguing, the only off putting thing is that is predominately a Motorola phone so could be a big let down as I don't have all that much fate in Motorola devices, especially in terms of moving design forward.

The only thing is Motorola, now being Google, its the first Google driven device. I have read (so not putting my mortgage on it) that all Motorola devices to date have been in the Motorola pipeline for some time. This on the other hand is being driven by Google, specs, design, os, the lot. So right now, it could be the Google X Phone or the Motorola X Phone.

Indeed but it sounds very much like a Motorola phone design wise, shatter proof, water resistant and Kevlar style design scream Motorola to me.

Umm you could be right. Im in the market for a phone, right now the HTC One is up front but ill wait until I can play with them all, and wait until after the Google I/O also. One thing that is really putting me off anything outside of the Nexus range is the versioning of Android. The One is being released with 4.1, and with its delays does that mean quite conceivably you could have it released on the shelf a month or two before Key Lime Pie, then it starts to really look old.

HTC are extremely slow at getting updates out for phones as well. While I do love HTC phones I think my next phone will be a Nexus, purely for the updates.

I haven't seen much of it yet but the Sony Xperia Z looks nice. I don't know about the spec compared to the others.

I think HTC get a bad rap for this, but it's not necessarily the case. I gave up waiting for my JB update on my one x, whereas other people on unbranded handsets had received theirs long ago. Sometimes it's the carriers that slow things down.

The specs in it are quite good, snapdragon quad core etc. s4 is a bit faster? Come forth spec people.
has good quality cameras and supposed to have better build/materials.

    Also this looks fun! :p

EDIT: actually there's some xperias arriving here tomorrow so must have a look compared to my s3.
