I there a Garmin for this?

I'm looking for a Garmin(or similar) that can display a map of where I am cycling but shows Fire Roads, byways etc. I like to just head off into Forests, up mountains etc.
I currently use Google Maps on a phone to help and it's perfect but very very slow and the battery life when using GPS on a phone is not long enough.

I know the EDGE 800 displays maps but can you get them detailed enough to hold fire road details?

Yeah it is . The unit is expensive enough without that on top of it.

Google should create one with their maps....

I use Mobile Atlas Creator to download http://www.openstreetmap.org (or, with a small bit of hacking, http://www.opencyclemap.org) to my phone. Then I tell my GPS app to use the locally stored map only. No download lag and better battery life.

I'm not sure how good openstreetmap is with fire roads and such but you can always contribute if you track your rides and make it better.
