Skins is to return to E4 in July.

The teen drama will air three new TV films - Skins Rise, Skins Fire and Skins Pure - which are expected to wrap up the series.

Skins Rise will mark the return of bad boy Cook (Jack O'Connell) - now working as a drug peddler in Manchester, the tearaway is forced to confront his violent past.

Sherlock's Lara Pulver and Facejacker star Kayvan Novak will guest star in Skins Fire, which focuses on the character of Effy (Kaya Scodelario) and will also feature Skins favourites Naomi (Lily Loveless) and Emily (Kathryn Prescott).

Final instalment Skins Pure will see Hannah Murray reprise the role of Cassie, who will be seen "adrift, alone and invisible in London" before forming a poignant friendship with a mysterious stranger.

Skins Fire also stars Lily Loveless (Naomi) and Kathryn Prescott (Emily) - plus guest stars Lara Pulver and Kayvan Novak - and will see Effy's life spiral out of control as she uncovers evidence of a major financial fraud and embarks on an affair with her wealthy boss.

Skins Pure will follow a lonely Cassie in London as she strikes up a "strange and poignant" friendship, only for her new relationship to come under threat. Charlene McKenna (Ripper Street), Daniel Ben Zenou (Strike Back) and Red Madrell (Kidulthood) also star.

Cook (Jack O'Connell) returns in Skins Rise, working as a drug peddler until his attraction to his employer's girlfriend sets off a chain of events that lead him into a world of savage revenge.

Finally, after all these years we may get to find out what Cook did to Freddie's killer!

I stopped watching this after the 5th series as I just couldn't empathise with any of the characters as I thought they were all self indulgent whiners

Is it the 1st of July its starting again is it just series/episode to review of what happened to them next?

Pfft, Cassie was far too good for Sid!

Only ever watched the first two seasons of Skins (reading negative reviews of Season 3 at the time put me off investigating the second generation) but Cassie was easily my favourite character, and I hated how they wrapped up her story. So I might watch the film that she's in.

So what did everyone think of the first epsiode of the last series of skins? I was pretty underwhelmed to be honest. nothing happened for ages and the the big reveal just seemed to be tacked on at the end because they needed something dramatic.
Frankly this show hasnt been worth the bother of watching it since generation one. generation two was ok. the rest were absolutely dire. this isnt quite as bad as those so far, hopefully it can pick things up.

I dunno, they had to have a story of some kind. Don't think too many would have been psyched to tune in next week to make sure Effy is still getting on well in the business world. I thought this was watchable without really provoking a huge amount of thought. Definitely better than the last 2 series in that respect.

Underwhelming is the word.... Maybe I'm too old. I do find Effy remarkably hot though and I have a track record of sticking with average shows just for the view.

Quite good, not season 1 or season 2 standards certainly but then it was a different kind of show to those two seasons, afterall it had to be given the point of this final season, that being that they are grown up. There was far less of the things that made the show quintessentially Skins, but it had to be that way. Overall I enjoyed it, the story was understated and gradually built to the finale, the scenes were as vibrant and colourful as they always have been in this series and a strong performance from Kaya Scodelario. Definitely worth sticking with.

About three quarters of the way through it struck me that the fact that i enjoy looking at her was the only thing keeping me from switching off (Jesus, that dress.) honestly, for the most part i was just kind of bored. i fiddled about with my phone a lot during it

So much ridiculousness in one episode

This started last night. Was decent enough. Basically showing that the characters have moved on to the adult world and it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Just Effy and Naomi so far but Emily arrives back next week too.

I suppose just to show where they are now in their life and what they are doing since.

I thought the first episode was very gripping. I kind of wish Tony or Sid could have been able to make appearances because after all, it is the final season. Especially because I've never been too fond of Cassie.

Nicholas Hoult who plays Tony is gone too big to be coming back to Skins.

I'd be surprised if Sid isn't Cassie's mysterious guest.

Surely they'd have advertised it to get the ratings.

kind of annoyed how depressing they've made it. I guess as they had messed up teenage years so they became messed up adults,

The Cassie 1 will be hard to run with as she was never that prominent a character in the first place

I always really liked her though and she was a key part of sids story

Saw part two of effy's story last night. my dominant thought the whole way through was "so what." i didnt buy the story, didnt buy any of the characters and was just bored by the whole thing. all the dramatic moments made no sense, they seemed to be just wedged in there for the sake of a big dramatic moment. shallow, dull and pointless.
I also see that cassie's story isnt in New York, which is a bit worrying. always wanted to find out how sid got on when he left

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,678 ✭✭✭Crooked Jack

Didn't think much of part one of Cassie's story either. The preview of next week looked good though, so hopefully they pull it together in part 2

Just copped on from seeing that ads of this that Cassie is Gilly from Game of Thrones...how did I not see that before!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,951 ✭✭✭✭CSF

That was easily the worst 47 minutes of TV I have ever watched.

Yup and not even a mention of sid. Such a wasted opportunity. after it and fire im really not holding out any hope for rise

cassie episodes were very boring I found. A far cry from the first series thats for sure. the first 2 effie episodes were decent though. Hopefully the cook episodes are good, as he was my favourite skins character.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,443 ✭✭✭InchicoreDude

Bit better tonight in fairness but still not great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 252 ✭✭tr0llface

the contrast between skins fire and pure made me very angry because while fire ended in the worst way possible, pure was all happy and carefree, which drove me mad.
not even sure if i'll even bother with rise.

These episodes are poorly written and of little interest.

While there was time to develop the characters over a number of episodes during previous seasons, these episodes have little to no character development.

Actually had hope for the Cook episodes though, as he was a decent characters originally.

    How wrong I was...

    Terrible, terrible stuff.

Can't really see why they bothered with this. It served absolutely no purpose because not one of the episodes developed any of the characters.

I really can't understand why Cook would be so haunted about murdering a man who butchered his friend and chopped him up.

Then he couldn't bring himself to kill a man who had murdered his friend, killed his girlfriend's parents and then murdered his girlfriend.

    really....

Ye really...probably because I don't watch tripe like Skins, just noticed from the ad. Anything else meaningful to contribute? No? Alright good man.

Not everyone watches every tv show under the sun like you richard, so might not recognise actors from other shows as quickly as you.
