Satellite Combo system installation

So my mum has asked me if I'd be able to fit this system for her - dont think she has bought it already, is just thinking of it.
I'm proficient at DIY but have never installed a satellite system before (I suspect I will need something to help me locate the satellite signal)
A few questions: - is installing something like this difficult, and is the system she's thinking of worth getting? Also, would a dish work inside the attic or would I have to bite the bullet and climb up to the roof?
(She is in Dublin 5 btw, back of the house faces east/south east)

I have to admit I know little or nothing about these systems - I am quite dubious about the one she has her eye on but cant say why!

The dish will have to go outside. It will have to face 28 degrees east of south. The tv aerial will have to face your nearest transmitter, you can find this on the saorview website.A friend of mine installed that system and it works fine. You will need a signal meter to line up the dish. there is alot of videos online that show you how to do this.
This site might help you positioning your dishhttp://www.dishpointer.com

The dish doesn't have to be on the roof. It will work at any level once it can 'see' the satellites at 28 degrees east (elevation angle about 21 degrees).

The aerial might be ok in the attic, or might need to go outside & high up. Depends on the view you have towards the Three Rock or Kippure transmitter sites.

As Peter says, the dish doesn't have to go on the roof, or even be at any particular height - as long as it has a clear view to the required part of the sky.

Seeing as you are considering a first install, find a location with a clear view at ground level and set up the system to experiment and get to grips with the tips and tricks for alignment. I have set up some dishes for test purposes by mounting the wall bracket on a paving slab and then aligning the dish - it's a good way to learn the process.

It's much easier, and safer to make mistakes at ground level - also easier to have a tv close by to check reception. If you can make it work on the ground, you can either leave it there, or at least have a better idea of what you need to do if you have to install at height.

Take a look at the video clips the guy on that site has on aligning sat dish and aerial. These will give you a good idea of what's involved. It's tedious first time around but not impossible to DIY.

As suggested it would be possible, but generally I would not recommend you have a go at it, unless you have someone who has done it before to help. You could easily spend 5 or 6 hours and get nothing. If you like a challenge have a go. If it does not work out you could pay an installer to do it, but beware it's not easy. I recommend bringing the TV and receiver outside right beside the dish.
