It usually will but no significantly, it also depends on the motors strength.is your cylinder drilled?if so its definately worth while

Yeah mia drilled the cylinder instead of changing the spring, so im going to replace both.

You'll see a nice little bump in ROF, consistency and reliability then! It'd be worth changing the O-ring and cleaning the gearbox too while you're at it! Just make sure there's nothing caught up inside (swarf from the cylinder, etc).

Yeah i was wondering be cause my other m4 has unreal rof but this one isnt just there, might give the whole gearbox an overhaul, thanks for the input lads:)

When your gun is pulling a stronger spring, the motor is under more load and requires more power to cycle at the desired ROF. If you replace the spring, the motor is under less load, and the ROF increases at a lower voltage however the piston return time is slower, and you can suffer premature engagement (sounds like a viagra ad...) when going for higher rates of fire.

If you're after some serious rate of fire, then keep the spring you have, replace the cylinder, short stroke your piston and sector gear, replace the motor for a NEO magnet motor, and run it off a good solid battery.

If you're after average ROF (i.e. 17-20 BB/sec) just replace the spring & cylinder with an M85, use a NEO magnet motor and a 9.6v NiMh or 7.4v Lipo.

Getting very technical with all the piston timing and that, well i changed out the spring, piston, cylinder head, spring guide and the rof has now increased abit, and im happy with it for now, but thanks all the same:)
