Felipe Contepomi is retiring at the end of the season to focus on his medical career.

At 35, I've had a great career and I've done well out of it. I've had so much enjoyment, but also some injuries which have made training more complicated, particularly on Mondays and Tuesdays. It's a difficult decision to make, but I'm going home to Argentina to begin my career as a doctor. It's a life decision. Now, I want to savour every minute, every training session. That's the key.

He will leave Stade at the end of the Top 14 but hopes to be involved in the Four Nations tournament.

    Legend.

Wish him all the best, great player. He was a great for Leinster and helped develop a young Sexton into a world class outhalf.

One of the best 10/12 playmakers to grace the game imo!

A standout memory for me of Contepomi, was when I was at a Leinster v Munster game in the old Lansdowne. He floored DOC with a right hook to the jaw, about 2 metres from the ref....put his hands in the air and asked "what, what did I do?" as the ref handed out a yellow.

Top man and some servant to Leinster.

My favorite player and one of the reasons I got into rugby. Absolute legend. My mother had the opportunity to meet him numerous times and he was meant to be an absolute gent.

I loved to hate him, mainly because he's so cocky and has the talent to back it up. Seems like a decent human being.

Terrific player, made a huge impression in his time with Leinster (and Carlow!) and everywhere else he played.

    Medicine's gain is Rugby's loss!

My only regret is that he basically missed representing Argentina in the 4N (but was one of the driving forces behind their inclusion I believe, reflecting his great service to Argentinian rugby).

A future worthy nominee for IRB hall of fame!

It looks like Contepomi's plan is to close out his career by playing 4N this year, just like Roncero in 2012.

The ERC website has pointed out that we could see Felipe Contepomi ending his club career at the RDS in the Amlin final! To see him bow out at the RDS against Leinster would be epic, so I'll be getting behind Stade in a big way. Hopefully, with a play-off spot looking unlikely, Stade will target the Amlin properly.
