    Hello,
Well my 16 year old daughter is determined to find herself a job .She would be quite hard working and dedicated and has done some work experience so has references from some good companies and such.

Now at the moment she is sending her Cv's out by email but I have suggest for her to go into the companies(Ie; shops) and hand her Cv in directly to a manager or speak to a manager.Would this be reasonable/acceptable and what way would you approach the staff in the shop??

I just would like some feedback before I send her out and get her hopes up.I am realistic and realise that many places will be put off by her age and it may take her awhile to find somewhere.
Thank you in advance for any feedback.

I'd get her to go out and about and walk into every single shop or business she can find. sending out by email really shows nothing much about yourself - whereas if she goes into each business and shows what a presentable, personable, friendly, well mannered person she is, she has a much better chance of at least getting to talk to a manager/supervisor. tell her to consider all kinds of businesses, shops, photographers, newspapers, printers, everything and anything really.

Thank You for the reply.Would you just go into the shop and request to talk to a manager?! She is open to anything and is not fussy ie;She'lll work in any type of business.I will encourage her next weekend to print out lots of copies of her Cv then and hand it into many businesses. We live just on the outskirts of Newbridge meaning there are plenty of places she could try.

exactly that. she'll get brushed off plenty of times I'd imagine but tell her to keep plugging away. daughter did that last year, must have tried hundreds of places, some wouldn't even take her cv, but finally got a job in restaurant on a trial, hard work but she did welland 12 months later she's still there parttime. very handy skill to be an accomplished waitress - can usually get jobs anywhere in world to tide you over

Thank you very much thesimpsons for your replies.
I shall encourage her to go out then and put herself forward. It wont be easy in these times as you see fully qualified people finding it hard to find any work but hopefully with her determination eventually she will find something.
It would be a handy skill to have - waitressing as it would be recognised all over. All the best to your daughter in the future also.
