Passat Reversing Sensor Power

Just tried to wire my after market sensors into my passat estate. Thought it would be a doddle using the PCT box thingy for the towbar lighting only to discover the fog and crucially the reversing lights aren't wired into the box.

Struggling to find reverse power as the reversing light is in the tailgate and want to avoid routing a cable from there and down to the bumper (via the roof panels etc).

You mentioned finding the reverse lamp power supply behind the trim in the boot. I had the driver side trim off and could see black wires heading up towards the tailgate but couldn't find reverse power.

Did you find reverse power on the driver or passenger side and if so where is it? I think we were looking at the fog light power on the driver side, connected to a blue male adapter.

What year passat? I did this on the OH's 2006 estate but am pretty sure I found the reverse light feed behind the trim on the passenger side in the boot.

Just a word of warning though we've an odd issue with the high level brake light and tail gate open warning light staying on every so often and I'm suspicious that it could be the cause but haven't had time to investigate properly. If I remember properly I couldn't find a ground so just used the chassis.

    '09 Estate.

It has LED lights (I think) and I guess the fitters took the easy way out when fitting the PCT box - they connected the fibre cables and didn't bother touching the reverse and fog which are standard wiring. We managed to get a light with a standard circuit tester from them.

If the reverse feed is on the passenger side it would be brilliant - it kind of makes sense as the cable from the actual light appears to be heading that way.

It will avoid my father in law trying to wire them to a permanent feed and a switch. I would rather have it right finding permanent power.

Should be the same and yeah I think there mostly LED's on the back.

Have you had to change a headlight bulb yet? It's a PITA and the first time will take you an age as the gap is so small you can just about get your hand in!

To remove the trim in the boot you've or at least I had to start by removing the piece immediately between the door and the back seats. It's kind of a cushion that the seat belt lies on when undone.

Fold the seat base forward and there's a single nut that needs undoing but I can't remember much about the rest :/
