As the title suggests I've decided to take a leap of faith with their online store and online sizing.

Still a bit dubious of their sizing guide though says I'm a small frame. 5'10" long torso short legs usually on a 56 cube. We'll find out I guess.

Just a few yay or nays on the few I've selected. budget is a big factor but from the few I've looked at they all seem well suited to my needs. (rec cyclists few(dare I say it ttt ris )

Cheaper one seems ideal not mad on the external cable routing but hey ho.

Middle one has Ultegra all round albeit for a bit extra.

Last but not least probably my preference but struggling to justify the cost(not a whole bunch more I know.)

I think weight varies by .5kg and they all seem seriously light for the prices.

    Anyway here they are.:confused::confused:

    Thanks lads. :)

No bikes shown in the link, not that I can see anyway!

A small frame at 5'10" seems a bit strange alright!

Sorry bout that I guess the compare tool can't be linked.

    http://www.canyon.com/_en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3073 roadlite Al 6.0

    http://www.canyon.com/_en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3074 roadlite Al 7.0

    http://www.canyon.com/_en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3076 ultimate Al 7.0

Probably not the fanciest models but it's in and around where my budget lies.

Something doesn't quite stack up if you are ordering a small at 5'10 unless you have very unusual dimensions.

At 1400 for the ultimate you're starting to get into carbon frame territory.

Ah but as the old saying goes I'd rather be on a quality alloy frame than a cheap carbon frame.

I did compare some carbon frames and a couple came in heavier

Also with the figures canyon are giving on weight they must be coating tissue paper with aluminium. :D

I was thinking if I were to go with the middle one which has the ultegra set up further down the road I could invest in a quality frame and swap over components. I think it's the external cables that are annoying me really (shallow I know)

The roadlite 6.0 has gotten good review so maybe I should play it safe with the cheaper one.

I was thinking the same myself.

I do know my legs are shorter than my torso but I wouldn't say I'm an oddity, maybe I am

I got a quick fitting done in lbs before and I was put on a 58 frame but ended up preferring a 56 so where they got the small (53cm) from I'm not to sure thought maybe they were built differently.

I'm a little weary of trusting it tbh.

    I've a Canyon Ultimate CF size 56.

If you are close to Blackrock in Dublin you are welcome to try it out.

    Thanks man very generous :),

I'm not to close to Blackrock but it'd be worth a trip.

I'll PM next time I'll be up that direction if that's ok.

What dimensions would you be, how do you find the bike any regrets?

Hi , I'm about the same 5'10 and was on a 53 cube agree.i could have easily gone with a 56.

Recently built up an Ultimate Al 56 (m) and its a super bike. The vcls Seatpost is very good at damping out all but the worst of the Irish roads.it stiff fast and comfortable.

I was contemplating a roadlite but I'm glad I went with the Ultimate Al now. Internal cabling is great and makes the bike look very well. The welds are so tidy many people presumed the bike was carbon fibre.

That's where my heads currently at. The internal cabling looks the job alright. Did it take long for them to ship the frame I've heard some folks saying delivery took up to 6 weeks but I assume that's for a special order. I'd be buying a stock bike with no changes.

I love it. Its crazy light, I bought the frame and built it up myself.

I'm 5'11 and pretty regular build, I couldn't go on a bigger frame I think.

I was very lucky as i was looking at the roadlite a used 2012 ultimate frame came up .i bought the frame and built it up myself so I can't comment on delivery times. I would have no bother recommending the frame though.

Do you mind me asking what your inseam length is? currently in the same boat as the op -trying to figure out the correct frame size - medium or large?

Inseam about 79cm . Took a chance on the size and found the 56 is great . Thought I was going to need a shorter stem but even after buying the 80mm stem the 100mm it came with is good

Bought a Canyon Ultimate AL recently, found the sizing chart absolutely fine - perfect fit for me. I was cycling a Trek 54 cm. frame for some years - Canyon sizing chart advised frame size 56 cm, which is Medium in the Canyon range. The critical measurement seems to be the inseam ( follow the guide on their website for this measurement ) - I took some time to select various sets of measurements, applying in increments of +1 / -1 to the various critical input measurements on the chart to double check the consistency of the results and more importantly to ascertain the cut-off point for Small and entry point for Medium. Would not have any hesitation in recommending Canyon - a very good bike. Hope this helps!
