Is this an official list? If so I can't believe that this is a criteria for nomination

    Parisse,the man is outrageously talented.

Got to be Halfpenny. Wonderful player

Nice to see Jones and Mas being recognised.

Some thoughts - surprised to see BOD there, didn't think it was a vintage tournament for him, despite being sensational against Wales. Bit of a sour end too the last day. Bastareaud's inclusion is baffling. Could they not find a better description for Farrell's inclusion?

Delighted for Conor Murray, particularly with some of the stick he gets/has gotten on here, had a fine tournament.

Anyway, pick of the bunch for me were Halfpenny, Picamoles, Parisse and Zanni.

It would be between Parisse, Zani and 1/2penny for me.

Picamoles for me. When France were a shambles he stood head and shoulders above the head and shoulders of anybody on the pitch he played with or against.

Neither BOD or Murray should be near the list tbh. Including them but excluding our best player, this list is slightly daft.

I'd say SOB's been better than both Murray and BOD for us, strange he isn't there at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Parisse missed a game so that might rule him out.

    Picamoles or Halfpenny for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

    Some odd people there...

BOD was decent but didn't stand out that much.
Bastareaud? Really? Fofana was better than him
And I really don't think Phillips was very good.

    SOB deserves to be mentioned.

    I'd go for Halfpenny probably.

That stat the El Whiffo De Cordito came out with about Parisse passing the ball more than our pack (or whatever it was) has me convinced. Give him the gong.

SOB not making the list is very odd. Delighted for Murray all the same. Hope Parrise gets it

I'd give it to Parisse...but I'd nearly give it to Parisse every year.
(Thought Zanni was quite good too)

Parisee closely followed Halfpenny for me.

Parisee was incredible, he doesn't have a position, he plays full-back, wing, centre, all of the back-row and second row. Best player in NH when on this form. Would love to see him in Pro12 with Treviso.

Halfpenny for me, ahead of Parisse because he played all the games.
Biggar was maybe the best player relative to how he was expected to play, if that makes sense, as we know what the likes of 0.5p, SOB and Picamoles are capable of.

Ya Halfpenny was immense. That tackle on SOB would not have been made by any other 15 in world rugby imo. So physical

Picamoles for me. Great player consistently for a team in disarray, and he did bosh Parisse in the first game for a try.

For sheer consistency at a very high level.... Had to be ha'penny

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was this not just a list of who won MOTM in each game? Hence why there's no SOB.

No they changed the system this year. They were nominated for a lot of different reasons this year, including being the most talked about player on social media!

Shove.... I never doubted it from the final whistle on Saturday.

    Great win and completely deserved.

Top man, he's been absolutely outstanding.

Bastareaud, you've got to be kidding me! What a bizarre choice. Picamoles or Parisse for me...But then as long as Parisse is pulling on an Italian shirt you may as well call off the competition tbh. He has been the player of the six nations since its advent, with BOD a close second.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,631 ✭✭✭Swiwi

HP won the award and rightly so. He's been Mr Consistently Good all year, including the 6N, and including when Wales were rubbish in the AIs. Parisse was superb against France & England, but had a relative shocker in the Scottish match. Picamoles was also good, of course.

It makes a pleasant change to have the right person awarded the gong (or at least not a controversial choice, even if not everyone's personal favourite), rather than the yearly farce that constitutes the IRB equivalent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Whatever about the nominations, at least the right man won the actual prize.

Least impressive player of the tournament? Michelak/Ashton??

Ashton probably played his way out of a certain Lions jersey pre-tournament. England are generally well-coached, whereas France are not, so that counts against Ashton too.

Equally though England don't really play a game that hugely involves their wingers. England scored tries in only two of their 5 games, and the try in the second game was not a thing of beauty!

I thought Ashton played well against us in the role that he was asked to do, certainly he looked better than our wingers. The missed tackle on Fofana though will be remembered more than his try against Scotland.

Good wingers go looking for work, and make their own luck, but there is certainly some truth in what you say.

Looking for work would be one Ashton's stronger strengths I would say, his try against Scotland being and his chasing game against Ireland being two examples. I haven't seen a huge amount of him this season so can't really comment more.

It is one of his strengths, but his defense is looking like a major weakness these days.

He's not suited to that English team.
