Ibogaine

    What is Ibogaine?

It is a drug extracted from a tree native to Africa. It is a strong hallucinogenic and can be dangerous if administered in a non clinical setting. If taken by a person addicted to heroin / cocaine / nicotine etc. it can cure such addictions with one treatment. In short, Ibogaine "resets" the brain to a pre addicted state. One dosage takes about 36 hours to run its course. During this time, the person will have "visions" of times in their life that led to their addiction (often repressed memories), allowing them to face up to these times consciously, and deal with them.

Ibogaine is illegal in most countries. I believe you can get it in Canada, Mexico and the Netherlands.

    Why is it illigal?

I believe it is illegal because to have people instantly free from nicotine addiction, alcohol addiction, gambling addiction etc. would be very bad for business and tax revenue.

If I shot off my bollock and then put another round in my head I'd be free from heroin addiction too but it doesn't necessarily make it a good plan.

Man, I would dearly love it if someone reset my brain!

(and I'm not even addicted to any substance or activity that I know of except maybe sugar and unrequited love)

How can it possibly be that easy though when its a physiological and a psychological dependancy

Definitely not a good plan... I wouldn't have started with the bollock tbh...not much to gain there

Perhaps a release of the body's naturally occurring DMT.

Thats precisely my point though, and why I want to highlight this, it appears to be THAT easy!

Saw a doc on this before.. Not a fun trip but an interesting solution. If I was in the pits of hell with an addiction and it was somewhat available, I'd consider it.

Nah...I dont buy it....there are no easy solutions in life. Sh1t happens and you have to put up with it as far as I'm concerned.

Why would you shoot just one?

    bollock - one
    bollox - two
bollix - someone else's bratty child

Oh, don't do that, I'd miss you

He'd also have to change his name to Dr. No bollockos, which would make him pretty eunuch (unique? badum tish!).

Instead of Ibogaine then he'd need Regaine.

Fùck, I should probably go back to sleep.

The thing about Ibogaine for opioid addiction is that the addict has to be truly ready to quit, and the only thing really stopping them from succeeding is the hellish physical withdrawals from opioids. This is where the magic of Ibogaine comes into play. For some reason, Ibogaine almost completely negates all physical withdrawal from opioids. It is thought that Ibogaine has some mu opioid agonist effects itself and there are Canadian and Swiss research studies underway to further understand its mechanism of action in curing opioid addiction.

So the physically dependent addict who is ready to quit takes Ibogaine, is thrown into a 72-hour trip, which is very intense and reported to be very unpleasant, and comes out the other side with no physical addiction to opioids. The hallucinations experienced are often purported to contain dream-like sequences of life events which led to addiction in the first place, though not always. Also there is a small risk of death from heart complications.

    Interesting and worth further study.

Edit: It has nothing to do with DMT.

So then is it the opioid equivalent of being locked in a press with nothing but a pack of smokes that you have to smoke until you are so sick of them the mere thought makes you feel bad

do you get an overload of what you experience on an opiate high to the point where you physically cant stand taking any more?

When I read the name I thought it was just Ibuprofen that made you fat.

Nothing of the sort. The acute physical withdrawals of opiates can last up to 7 days and the post acute withdrawal symptoms (depression etc) can last some weeks after that. With Ibogaine you spend 2-3 days tripping balls (in no way similar to an opiate high) and then miss out on all the opioid withdrawal nastiness that should be there to greet you on the other side.

But if the addict is not really done with the lifestyle psychologically, then they'll still go back using.

bumping this as it seems very interesting

I would have thought a 'bad trip' would have resulted in possible depression afterwards, are there side effects? how can you come out the other side with no baggage?

But he wouldn't be Dr. Bollocko if he didn't start with the bollock? It would be like asking Batman to drive around in James Bond's Aston Martin or whatever the bollocks it is these days.

Hands up everyone who would take hard-core drugs if they thought there was a quick-fix solution to their addiction when it became a problem.

They say this Iboga root, can also help you talk to your dead ancestors. Now for that reason, and that alone, I would like to try it.

But having said that, Ive seen the Documentarys where people are hurling their lguts up and vomiting for ages, so for this reason, I probably would never do it.

    Very different experience though.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
