The motherboard on my Dell inspiron M5010 burnt out due to blocked air vents, i have a Dell inspiron 1525 with a damage screen, was wondering is it possible to replace the damaged motherboard with the 1525 board?

Cant seem to get info online about it, if not where can i source a board for the M5010?

    Thanks in advance.

Seems your not the only one with this fault, looks like it could be a well known one. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19457973.aspx

You could try Ebay, but i'd expect it to be over €100

    and how to replace it

    No it will not work.

If the 1525 works, why not just use that? Would make a tonne more sense tbh.

    +1

Was thinking the same, swap the screen from the M5010 into the Inspiron 1525.

If you still think you could do it, look at images of both motherboards on a google search. I doubt they even look similar, so ports wouldn't match up, shape around fan wouldn't match up etc..

They might be. If they are, sell/swap it.

    along with other parts.

To be honest with you guys, I may have missed that the screen on the 1525 was broken...:o

I would doubt the screens would be compatible. Could be worth a shot all the same.
