I'll enjoy a nice bottle of lucozade tonight with a curry chip and a fresh cod from the local chipper, will probably fire on an auld movie as well.

The pubs and clubs wouldn't appeal to me at all today.

How will you spend your day? How much alcohol will you consume?

    What's the reason to celebrate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,743 ✭✭✭Wanderer2010

Pretty unusual response here but Im not doing anything! I just consider today a normal holiday so Im reading the papers, vegging out in front of a few boxsets and taking it easy, might watch the news later and see the parade coverage. To be honest Im not a mad fan of staying in a loud pub drinking myself stupid for a whole day, couldnt be bothered with that. There you go!

Woke up, had a fry with the family. Went to the parade then Eddie Rockets for wings and Malts, bit of a stroll and then home via the shop for 4 apple turnovers which just went down the hatch (and some tay) ...will read for an hour and then out for a 20 minute post Eddie guilt reducing run, then home to watch darby OGill with the little one.

    Sleep, no school tomorrow YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I'm just wondering. If I leave off going in to town, Galway, till after 7ish is there a good chance that most of the dregs of society will have gone home either because they've burnt out or spent what little money these cretin have.

Ah, the joys of living in a welfare state.

Middle class people in Ireland don't drink, of course.

Working on assignments. I did come home for some corned beef dinner.

OT, but on the way home I saw a dude running backwards, along Mount Street towards Ballsbridge. I'm guessing for charity?? He nearly fell over a reversing car. :D

Who said anything about supposed social class?

Besides, it's not the drinking I have a problem with.

I was at a festival last night and am subsequently too hungover to celebrate, so I'll be just lounging around, feeling sorry for myself.

Chilled out and had lunch with my sons, watched a bit of the slow moving traffic jam that passes as an excuse for a parade in my town online coz was too cold to go into town for it. Getting showered and changed now shortly to hit the town and drink til my boyfriend takes me home. Have been off it for awhile now so looking forward to some beer.

Really just a normal Sunday for me, minus the normal post 9pm depression getting ready for work in the morning!

Take the dog for a walk, might make some sort of beef and stout stew later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,267 ✭✭✭Elessar

I covered the local parade as a first-aider, then went and brought my mam to a nice 3 course dinner in town. At home now, browsing the web.

My mates are in a friends gaff and wanted me to go play dungeons and dragons with them. On paddys day.

Not a hope lads. No wonder ye're all single.

I'm not too keen on the whole idea of celebrating the guy who brought the disease known an Christianity to Ireland by getting so drunk I wet my pants.

I can go out and get pissed any weekend of the year. It's just another day to me.

Nice to see the atheists are out celebrating instead of protesting that it's a religious thing and no one should pay any attention to it

Why did you mention the welfare state? It suggests you had a problem with those benefitting from it, whereas today you'll find idiots from all walks of life acting stupid.

Was already out last night so that's enough for me thank you very much! Probably do a bit of baking later....om nom nom. St.Patricks Day is no different to any other day for me, the best part is the fact that I have tomorrow off - Happy Days :)

Because of Bob Latchford I presume ? .The first time I ever saw him play was for Birmingham city against Shanrock Rovers in a friendly .Brum won 2-0 .

Actually know ,I'm a Liverpool red but I got a free ticket and wore my neutral shirt to go watch the game.

We don't celebrate it. I see being Irish as an accident of birth as opposed to an achievement. I watched the parades roundup on the news. Sadly it was ruined by RTE's pathetic decision to provide most of the commentary in Irish. Who are they kidding? The vast majority of people watching the news had no idea what was being said.
