just curious as to what could be the cause to excessive wear on my bib tights? its happening in an even pattern either side of the padded area, could this be caused by my saddle? too narrow? too wide?

A number of things could cause excessive wear.

The material type. Cheaper will wear more generally.

Saddle type including the material covering it and gel thickness.

Saddle height can also play a part. If your saddle is too high and your stretching your legs while the pedals are at lowest point then you may be sliding your ass from side to side with each pedal stroke which will wear tights/shorts considerably quicker.

    What brand are the tights?

Could it possible be your saddlebag. I was wondering why I was getting wear on shorts and this was the problem.

Crickey! How far back on your saddle do you sit? I think you need to move your saddle back, your sit bones should be on the widest part of the saddle so te gnu ally there should be nothing over hanging the rear of the saddle unless you have a massive flabby arse that overhangs on all sides :-)

It was on the inside of my thighs (The pad on my shorts does not just cover my Arse maybe your bibs are a bit small if it only covers yours). As I said the saddlebag was actually very wide at the front. I have had the same bike for 2 years and the only thing that changed was the bag.

I had the same problem and it was the saddle bag. It was a topeak medium. I changed it for something else and the problem went.

Had it happen on a saddle bag, make sure the strap is really tight and no Velcro or edge of the bag is poking outwards and is tucked in, found this out the hard way with a wrecked pair of bib longs
