    OK.

A few of us are looking to head to the festival.

I know a few here have been already so just really looking for some pointers as to travel arrangements and accommodation etc... We are planning on going on the Thursday & Friday.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

I flew into Birmingham Tuesday morning. We hired a car and stayed in Birmingham, but got the train the first day so could enjoy a few pints. Train takes 42 mins and shuttle bus takes you straight to the track from train station. We drove the second day, and flew back that night which worked out perfect and much better then the first day. If I didn't want to drink, and drove both days I'd do the same again.

Word of warning, the queues getting out of the car park after the races on the first day were mental. Some were there until 8.30pm that evening.

Next year I will do a few things different. Going to fly in the night before, and stay in a b&b near cheltenham both nights. There's fields outside prestbury park that are only few minutes walk away from the main entrance to the club/ tatts enclosure where you can park your car. These might be easier to get out of after the days racing if your driving.

Car hire worked out cheaper for me with hertz after booking flights with aer lingus. Can't wait for next year. It was the best racing experience ever.

Cheltenham racing accommodation will sort you out with B&B if you go down that route.

There are plenty of packages available for a few hundred where you can either drive over on a bus and get on the ferry, or fly in to Birmingham. I'll be using a package, as it includes getting there, hotel, getting to and from the racing and tickets every day. I'll arrive the night before and leave the day after the festival.

What would be the avg price of a 2 day package?

You'd be mad to get a package. Flights return less than 100euro, B and B with cheltenhamracingaccommodation.com less than 70 per person a night race tickets 50 quid per day. Train or bus from airport 30 return approx
Total cost approx 350 do it on your own terms unless there is a large group of you
