The Dublin Council of Churches has organised an ecumenical prayer for St Patrick's day called "Patrick in his own words" - featuring extracts from the saint's own writings, scripture he quoted, hymns and traditional harp music. A lovely event!

Taking place in St Patrick's Cathedral, Patrick's St, Dublin 8.

6pm Sunday 17th March St Patrick's Day. All are welcome.

    Any reports from this event?

I think the first public lesson delivered by Pope Francis since his election and the feast of Saint Patrick's Day is an interesting co-incidence.

The Pope's strong feelings in favour of evangilisation are very much in line with the pastoral work of Saint Patrick in spreading the good news of Christianity in Ireland.
