Can you expand on this?? do you mean Android AP, as in Access Point?? Tethering??

You say you set this up on another phone, and you say same problem, but you also say wifi is OK from another android??

So if you can clarify, it would help. thanks!!

Just one thing, have you tried "forgetting" your home network??

in Settings, depending on your Android version [what is it?], go to Wi-Fi, long press on your network, and select "forget" when presented with connect/forget options.

If you need, you should download this app from Google Play:

    WiFi Connection Manager

It allows you to backup your current wifi settings, then fix wifi, if you are rooted, it can do an in-depth fix.

If it does not work, you can restore the original WiFi settings.

Has your wife's phone got the same wifi protocol set as your router?

    802.11 b/g/n??

you probably should check in router settings and phone to ensure other are the same.

edit....sorry, I see it is happening to AP/Hotspot also.....so prob phone thing.

You try setting Static IP on phone?? Note....This is really a Workaround not a Solution

you need to go into "advanced" from WiFi Settings..

it might work for the Router WiFi connection, use the Router IP as Gateway IP and 255.255.255.0 for Netmask...

and if you know your providers DNS, or use Google DNS or Open DNS...fill out both DNS1 and DNS2

Also, phone IP address should be within the IP address range on your router, and reserve this in router settings... [so router will not hand it out to other device as DHCP]

If you have an eircom netopia router, you get access using this IP address from your PC, using your browser:

    http://192.168.1.254/....

this should also be your Gateway IP on the phone!!!

As for Hotspot, I dunno!! I still suspect the phone!!!

Just a thought....was the phone ever restored using Titanium Backup??

If so, there is your problem....it is crap, only use it ever to restore apps, without any data, or system stuff whatsoever.

That's it, I'm outta ideas my friend, the floor is open to others!!!

***To use your phone in public hotspots, go to advanced WiFi again and disable Static IP. Home again, re-enable...although, it may work on DHCP, so try it first...funny things happen with Android****

I'm also getting the same error that you guys have described. It says "turning on" and then "error" I can't connect to any wifi networks and I've tried multiple.

    factory reset from phone??

    in settings/backup & reset/factory data reset......??

You lose all your data and installed apps and back to original "out of the box" settings, whether you are using Stock ROM or Custom ROM, and you will need to set up Google again to recover paid Play Store Apps.

Stuff on your SD card will be OK, like pics and music, etc.

    Pretty drastic, IMO??
