Over 5000km incident free until today.

Car came across from the middle lane to turn left, then stopped suddenly to let a pedestrian cross the road, covering half the turn and cycle lanes (even though there is no ped crossing) and I went into the back of the car at around 20mph. Went over the handle bars and the bike followed as I was clipped in.

No damage to the car or the bike, hand is slightly bruised and in some shock but nothing major. I'm just grateful it was serious!

    /blog :)

Im really glad to hear youre ok and thankfully it wasnt serious. But as the guys always say here when they read of an accident with a motorist, you should go to the doctor yourself and leave the bike in to be checked.

You'll be running on adrenaline for a few days before it you start to feel sore. I know from experience.

When I hear these stories it reminds me to take extra care on the road. Glad you're ok and hopefully wont be too sore tomorrow

Agree with Eoghan says here, you'd be surprised what could be fracture or damaged on the bike...same goes for your body. Aches and pains could start in a few days when the adrenaline and shock wears off.

Off-topic but this happened to me once. Took a corner too fast up in the Wicklow mountains somewhere and ended up flying into a nice soft, marshy ditch. I chuckle when I look back on it, must have looked like the world's worst somersault.

It's good that you're ok though. Just coming into Dublin city centre this morning I had 3 instances of drivers being inattentive and dangerous, which I'm glad to say is 3 more than usual.

Had my first crash on saturday the a taxi, bike is fine but the taxi needs a new front window and wing mirror. I was lucky to come out with a few brues and cut on my leg, my pride was hurt more as a dublin bus was stopped and full of people watching

Get checked out asap,I got knocked down while out training,a jeep took me out off it when i had right of way going thru roundabout,I got a nasty cut on knee and went home a cleaned it out myself, low and behold 3 weeks later and infection arose in my knee and I had to go on two separate doses of antibiotics, was lucky I showed the swelling to wife I usually let things like that go and hope it just bruising, could have been worse if I left it for another few day, would have to go and get knee opened up and washed out.
