Do you notice people's eye colour?

People's eye colour is something I never really notice, I can't even think of what colour eyes people I see on a daily basis have. I read before that women generally remember people's eye colour more than men do. So, do you notice?

I really only notice brown eyes.

As a woman I don't notice at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,419 ✭✭✭✭jokettle

Nope, not really. Unless they're really striking, like a very pale blue or something.

I don't really notice eye colour but it definitely is an important characteristic of a face. If a person I know walked up to me with different coloured eyes I'd notice straight away.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,916 ✭✭✭shopaholic01

I notice any colour other than blue - unless they're a striking blue like another poster said, but then blue seems to be the most common eye colour here.

    I dont.
Of course, unless you are dating someone. Then'll you notice or look for it.

I would even say being friends with someone for a long time would make you notice. But generally its not a trait you notice :p or even creepier .. look for :pac:

    No.

One ex gf closed her eyes and asked me what colour they were and I hadn't a clue. And we were together about 3 months at that stage

Different coloured eyes are noticeable, for sure. But, I have a patch of brown in one of my (green-ish) eyes, and it took a good friend about 3 years to notice.

You could've punched her in the face and said black.

Barely notice my own. Some hope of noticing others. If anyone ever asks I just say blue as it's so common... works 90% of the time, 40% of the time :D

    OMG...I have brown eyes.

Glad I checked now, though would have preferred blue.

I notice brown eyes alright. I only notice blue or grey eyes if the person's complexion makes them striking.

Pale grey blue eyes, black hair and pale skin=golden ratio for me in a lady. Black Irish look.

I am female, and I notice what colour eyes people have
I've always had a fascination with people's eye colour and always take notice.

Brown eyes I've found harder to read peoples body/facial language with as
its harder to see pupil dilation. I remember as a Kid I'd trust brown eyed people less for some weird reason maybe that was it.

Green eyes seem to be a rarer colour these days when you look at people for some reason. I always remember the film Big Trouble in Little Chinatown when
the character Miao Yin was the girl kidnapped for having the green eyes.

Pale Blue eyes I've always had a fondness for also Like Helan Flanagan from Coronation street or Ksenia Solo from Lost girl, or there was the girl from little house in the prairie when I was a kid who had lovely pale eyes.

Hazel eye colour like Mathilda May from Lifeforce can often look brown from a distance but a lovely lighter colour with tones of greens up close.

When there's races with some mixed family genes also I think is awesome.
African American/Indian/Asian with blue eyes I think look incredible.

Then there are mismatched eyes, Have seen several women with one brown eye and one blue eye that looked amazing.

Eye colours I find a little un-nerving are a very dark brown almost black bug like eyes.
Andrew Lawrence (English standup comedian) I think is awesomely funny but his eyes are freaky.

I never noticed it until my wife, who's not Irish, pointed out that pretty much everyone in Ireland has blue eyes. I didn't believe her til we were back visiting and looked around a packed train carriage one day... turns out it's true. Anyone without blue eyes in Ireland is a grotesque freak of nature, essentially - and the numbers back that up

Yes ,nice eyes are the one thing I tend to notice and I like all colors but hazel /green eyes on some females have that wonderful glow about them .

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I have brown eyes and would tend to notice those with brown or striking eye colours.

"the eyes have it" - you can tell alot from someones eye colour and intensity, window to the soul. I almost always judge people by their eyes if I have to deal with them. The colour and way they hold/avoid your own eyes usually tells you everything. There's no hiding the eyes. Unless they wear tinted glasses. Which is exactly what they're doing- hiding their eyes. I never trust those ones. Usually cnuts at the back of it.:)

I have pale green eyes that appear blue in some lights, actually had arguements over it with exes because they insisted it

Eye colour is determined by genetics, how can that tell you a lot about someone?

My eyesight isn't good enough to see peoples eyes from any sort of distance, but I often look at my gfs as they look really nice and unique. Plain ole blue myself.

Your face is also determined by genetics, but by the age of fourty you have the face you deserve. Genetics goes so far, but what's inside dresses the dish.

It means that if you smoke/drink heavily/have a poor diet/regular UV exposure etc. your face will show signs of premature ageing. What I don't understand it how anything can change/influence eye colour:confused:.

and yet a well accepted life fact. By fourty, the way you actually have lived and treated your body is etched on your face. When you are younger, it's just the face you got. Have a look around. Hardness, jollity, meanness, duplicity, honesty, innocence, vanity. All those traits are etched onto the faces of the older people around you. You just need to look more.:) Do you think it's an expression I just made up? It's an old, old expression and like most enduring expressions, it contains a lot of truth. They do say the age has gone up to fifty as life is easier now..

    I always notice eye colour.

I absolutely love green eyes and find them so attractive, but I have them myself and really dislike them on me and would change them if I could.

Never heard anybody mention that show on this site before. Talk about a show that makes you want to join a gym:O

Anyway, I always notice people's eyes, but I'm not sure I remember every people's eye color. I think eyes really add depth to someone's face, and can change how someone looks.

Hmmm, it is strange how you can read emotion from people's eyes.

that seems wildly wide open to interpretation though. For example, someone might have frown-lines because they spent years squinting due to poor eyesight, or puzzling over complex problems, and not because they were going around scowling at people. The expression a person has at the moment when they're speaking/listening to you and to others would be a much more useful gauge.

There's an old chinese proverb that states, "a man without eyes, is like a man without a heart, although, a man may live without eyes and learn to see true love".
I think that says it all really.

don't blame me, blame Abe Lincoln and others. They said it.

another old chinese proverb goes:"The badger may be furry, but he knows when his set is waterlogged". Very apt. Very profound. Also, Confucious say "when man has one blue, one green and one brown, man has colourful jocks."
