Someone reminded me of a song that brought back the exact feeling of that age and year.I was 16 and had only really started listening to bands and artists at the time. The song in question was The kooks-she moves in her own way.It reeled me back to that exact summer! just thought I'd try something a little fun here.So anyone got a song/album/artist that timewarps you back to your adolescence?

    Shakespeares sister - Stay

Brings me back to 1992 when I was a kid but this song always reminds me of then.

Oasis Roll with it. It was the battle with Blur. It was 1995 and during the best Summer this country has ever had. Loads of other chart song that remind me of certain chicks doing certain activities!

    Goo Goo Dolls-Iris
When I was being chauffeured in a BMW and thought I was king of the world, dressed as a punk of the 70s.

    Cherish - Madonna

It was on the radio when I found out my mother had died and again when my best friend had committed siucide.

Strangely enough it's still one of my favourite songs.

Any Christy Moore song reminds me of driving from Port Elizabeth to see my cousins in Johannesburg.

Possibly the worst song known to mankind!

Don Henleys Boys of Summer is another that will always bring back some fond memories of a time not to far gone. They'll stay with me until the day I die.

Fairytale of New York. Every Christmas brings me back to a time of a silver artificial tree with multicolor lights.
Star trekking across the universe and genesis spitting image song also. Probably played to death back then and burned into my brain.

I'm into music and being nostalgic by nature, I have dozens of songs that conjure up particular moments in my life.

Back in my first year in university in 1983, me and a few friends would throw money into a video juke box in the student union, and we each had our own favourite track that would get played regularly - The First Picture of You by The Lotus Eaters - a brilliant song - was a personal favourite of a mate who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident a number of years ago. Hearing that song always brings back great memories.

    Gone but not forgotten Hippy.

    Agreed!
Placebo's Every Me and Every You brings me back to a school disco, having a sneaky kiss. Clear as day flashback!

For some reason, that AWFUL song "I blame you for the moonlit sky..." etc, from about 1992, really evokes memories of me being 12 years old and kissing my first "girlfriend" and just the general feeling of how things were and how I was back then. I think it's called "Sleeping Satellite", I can't bring myself to Google it but it's been in my head for over 20 years now, sigh.

For some reason there are alot of early nineties songs that instantly take me back, so much I've got a whole Nostalgia playlist dedicated to them. it's weird I wouldn't be a huge fan of them they just have this assocation that I instantly get drawn back to, off the top of my head they are:

More Than Words - Extreme and Let Loose - Crazy for You.

Apart from that Darude Sandstorm = Teenage Discos and scoring like a mad thing! Happy Days. Back then you'd get shot down by a girl you'd chance her friend nowadays you'd slink out of the pub mortified and go home to re-evaluate your life!

To be honest alot of the songs mentioned here take me back :D

Was 15 in 1995 so i remember the Blur/Oasis thing and that really was a fantastic summer. One of the best.

Blue reminds me of my first ever holiday abroad without the folks in 1999. Not a particularly enjoyable memory to be fair tho!

All the stuff from the early 90s mentioned here too really takes me back. Glowworm - Carry me home, that was a great song, always reminds me of being maybe 12 or so.

I remember when this tune came out, saw it on one of those mystical TV channels nobody had called MTV.

Edit: Fackin' hell, it's 20 years old!

Reminds me of the time i stole my first kiss off a young lass down from Dublin on her summer holidays, and the sadness i felt when she went home knowing i would probably never see her again. I was 12. Ha ha the innocence of it all when i think of it!!!

wuthering heights - kate bush...takes me back to when i was a child!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 942 ✭✭✭Real Life

The one song that had the most impact on me when i heard it again was probably kate bush - wuthering heights. I remember hearing it as a very small child and i always liked it then but never knew what it was called. For years i forgot about it and it wasnt until i was maybe 18 that i heard it again and it brought me back. At 24 i still love it and a lot of other kate bush songs too.

Ash.J.Williams just got in before me, ha

Johnny Cash 'Ring of Fire'. Dad loved Johnny and had a tape of his in the tractor. Hearing that song reminds me of bringing home the turf, sore backs and scorching sun. Class.

Myself and my friend spent hours watching the video-hitting rewind and play again and again and again, to watch the kissing scenes. We thought Richard Marx was the purrfect kisser:o
