Thyroid testing for weight gain, what does it entail?

    Hey ya'll.

Am trying to get a friend (who is very paranoid about doctors) to get her thyroid checked out. She eats very healthily and exercises regularly, but she is putting on the pounds like nobodies business. Any one got an idea of what getting your thyroid checked out entails? Is it as simple as a routine blood test, or is it more complicated and invasive?

I think that if I am pre armed with facts about how the testing is not a big deal, I may stand a better chance of getting her to go to see her GP. My mother had a very temperamental thyroid. She experienced lots of weird fluctuations with her weight until she got her over active/under active thyroid issues sorted out. I am hoping my friend may be able to do the same, or at least get cracking on something else, if that is not it.

    Ta.

    Hi,

Easiest is to get your GP to do a Blood test. Simple as..Wait a week or two and see what the results say...
