Terrible battery life lately

I have a htc one v and normally get a good day and a half or a bit more depending on usage however in the last week or so it wont even last 18-19hrs and thats with little or no use.

I can't think of any apps I've installed recently that may be running in the background, there's nothing really in task manager that want there before.

Can batteries just get really bad or is it more likely there's something draining my juice? I've installed battery doctos to what it will tell me what app is using up battery power.

Been considering a factory reset also or would rooting it and putting on something else help with battery life as well?

I'd install Better Battery Stats and then look at partial wake locks to see if an app is preventing deep sleep.

Weird I never got the email notification.

Since installing that app I mentioned I've been averaging 25hrs which is a bit better than the 18.

I might try that app and see what I get with it. I might also factory reset anyway, I can find it lagging in apps when scrolling and general usage.

You could try some, or all of these things, from my post on another thread:
Ahh yes K, but comparing apples with oranges, vis-à-vis Ancient Nokia vs Modern Android Smartphone...I think you would agree.:D

There are things ppl can do to prevent Battery Drain,

like turning of synchronisation in Google Gmail, G+, FB, and other apps

using 2g instead of 3g until you need 3g,

probably keeping GPS off until needed,

allowing phone to go into deep sleep at night,

Keep screen at low brightness in Display settings, don't use auto brightness setting

Most ROM's have easy access toggles to change these settings.

by auto turning off WiFi when screen goes off [going into Settings/WiFi/Advanced from menu/Keep WiFi on during sleep/ set to never]..... this setting should work, but on some custom ROM's does not....

    so use Better Wifi On/Off.

It is very useful and is free.

Also, get CPUSpy+ App, free from XDA as a member....

    CPUSpy+ XDA

Also, Better Battery Stats, also free from XDA as a member, but if you like, support the dev, buy it!!!

    Better Battery Stats XDA

These tools will help find what is keeping your phone awake, and there is support from the devs.

So, if you like any or all of the above apps, do try to support the Devs.

    Open for more suggestions!!!

Decided on a factory reset, been going nearly 48 hrs with probably enough juice left to last me the day. Must have had some app(s) that were draining the battery.

I couldnt figure out how to work better battery stats! I'll look into the other apps again when batt starts to drain a little quicker again
