Anyone up for a boards dyno day in the coming month or two? Say end of April ish on a Saturday morning. Westward in Enfield, CDA in Dunshaughlin or is there anyone running one in Dublin?

It's normally a minimum of 10 car's and IIRC prices were normally €50 for 2wd €80 for 4WD but i'll have to check prices depending on who its with.

If there's enough interest i'll make some more enquirers on it

I'd go, if it's at CDA.

I've no interest, if it's at Westward.

    Personal preference.

From past dyno days you should get a few from the main forum interested in this also so would be worth posting there too.

In terms of organising it you should pick a day 1.5 - 2 months from now and stick with it, don't be asking what days suits who and where, just pick a date, pick a place, pick a time and stick to it, if you don't it wont end up happening at all.

I'd be with Marlow, if it's in CDA and on a Saturday I can attend I'd be interested.

I'd be up for it, purely out of curiosity, I reckon I could get a plus 1 too.

Definitely worth posting on the main forum too.

Corture auto or Westward and i'd be up for it - only 2 dynos worth driving your car onto.

Would be down for this, you need to set a date and location in stone though

Depending on dates and depending on whether this is in Couture or not, we may be able to make a racecar or two appear.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,391 ✭✭✭5500

Ok so, I've popped CDA off an email to confirm what Saturdays they have free & current pricing, once they get back I'll pick a date and pop a post on the main forum and see if some want to jump on board from there.

And what happens if your car goes "pop" on the dyno??

Do you sign a disclaimer form 1st??

That would be the norm (at least with CDA). But generally, if the car shows up faults or problems initially, they don't complete the dyno for that car. No point.

Nobody wants to damage their car on a dyno run.

We might have a few touring cars available if there's an interest in it.

Generally if your car goes bang on the rollers it's your own problem.

At least this cant happen with a dynapack hub setup.

How lucky were all those people standing in front?????:pac::D:

Very quick reaction from the chap at the wheel to stop the thing in time.:)

Not strapped properly I'd say. As far as I know there's only one dynapak in the country and the owner isn't usually too interested in dyno days and any experience I've had of the chap has been awful, no offence intended just saying my experience and yes I have told him this myself. CDA for me or failing that Westward, at least either of those will be pleasant and interested in the goings on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

What does CDA stand for and where is it actually?
Had a quick look but couldn't find it.

    And any email back?

Comments on the video say it all. Straps snapped because of excessive exhaust heat. So they probably strapped the car to near to the exhaust pipes.

I gave them a buzz there, so looking at the date of Saturday April the 27th,
Prices if under 10 cars are 60 for 2 wheel drive and 100 for 4 wheel drive, if we can get around 20 cars it will be 50 for 2wd and 70 for 4wd.

Sonny just wanted a better idea of numbers before marking it in, does date and price suit most people? I'd say its going to have to be opened to the main motors forum to get the 20 cars anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

    Sounds good, man.
I'm good for three people as I said. :)

We should have one car anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,594 ✭✭✭tossy

My opinion would be limit it to 10 cars - you get better value and better feedback on the health of your car. The last time we were up in Couture for a dyno day Nick ran most of the cars 3 or 4 times checking air/fuel ratios and doing runs in different gears etc depending on the owners mods/set up/requests, it was a really helpful and we all learned alot - the danger with 20 cars is you just got a run, print out get off quick the next car on etc.

I've been at dyno days like that in westward and it's not really beneficial, unless of course you just want a piece of paper with a number on it.In fairness to Martin at westward i've gone up on my own countless times and had 5 or 6 runs for the price of one and got all the feedback and info i'd expect from a good dyno and good dyno operator.

Matter of opinion :) Sure, for all I know, the exhaust pipes could have been in the most stupid place.

Away on a stag that weekend but I was only bringing an ould TDCI anyway, make sure to take plenty of pics. Also since you have the date and location you should start a thread in the main forum with all the info there (IE:Dont just link to here)

I'd say it may depend on what cars are being run, eg if its 4WD there obviously going to take longer setting up ect so possibly less run's, but then again if were there from say 9.30 to start at 10 there should be ample time for max 20 cars if its running until around 3/4

So i'll get back in touch and pencil in Saturday the 27th of April

I would say to anyone thinking of doing this, just bite the bullet and put your name down. I've had all of my cars dyno'd at some point. Its a handy piece of paper to have when it come to sell. The lads in Coture are great and will always give you feedback on how healthy your car is or not. Unless there is an underlying issue with your car you should nt have any issues.

I'll either bring my Corolla if I can get an exhaust fabricated (read as find money). Or take the Saxo (if its built) . I think you can see the reoccuring theme :-)
