Unlocking a Samsung S3 Mini

    Question - does anyone know how to unlock the Samsung S3 mini?

    Bought a new S3 Mini from VF for my O/H. I need to unlock it as it will be used with a non-VF simcard this summer.
    I got the official unlock code from Vodafone, but the method they describe to unlock it (#7465625*638*unlockcode#) does not work.
    I spoke to the drones at their customer support and all they could come up with was to take it into a VF shop...:rolleyes:
    I also noted that *#7465625# does not work either. Both codes give me "invalid MMI code".
    Phone is on jellybean and it is DEFINITELY network locked. It has not been and will not be rooted (don't trust my O/H - she's not very good technologically).
    Any ideas?

    If you put in a sim from another network and turn it on, it will say Network Lock, please enter code.

    Did you put a different sim card in it first?

    Thanks for the replies.
    I don't have the non VF sim card as yet. Maybe I'll get one of those cheap sims from Tesco just to test.

    As far as online services and similar shops - no thanks. I have a legitimate unlock key from VF and I want to use that to unlock the phone....or VF must supply me with an unlocked phone. Its not the unlock key that doesn't work, its the actual MMI code to insert the key that doesn't work :confused:
    Possibly it might have something to do with JB, as I unlocked my S3 (normal one) when it had ICS installed (MMI code was working then), but now with JB, I get MMI errors there too...

    Has anyone tried the XDA unlock route?

    I'd like to try it but I'm afraid it'll mess up my phone or something!
