    Hi

Sorry if this has been asked before but can't find anything specific.

Looking to book 10 days in Vilamoura and the missus wants to go half board.

I'm not too keen as I love my food and like to go diff places each night but she has twisted my arm.

We were looking at the Crowne Plaza and although it has good overall reviews the few reviews I found on the food were not too good.

We were also looking at the Hotel Villa Gale but can't find any food reviews online at all.

Just wondering has anyone been to these hotels and can comment or if you could recommend someowhere else in the general area.

    Thanks in advance

That's a terrible idea. I've stayed in a few places on golf trips where we had half board. The food was mediocre at best and it's the same every night. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Villamoura so limiting yourself to one hotel makes no sense.

We haven't done half board recently after a coup in the golf society!

I wouldn't recommend half board either. At a push I would go bed and breakfast, but my husband and I prefer an apartment. We stayed in the Vila Gale Marina for a few days. The hotel is lovely, but we had breakfast every morning and it was the same thing every morning. You would get tired of it. My aunt and her husband stayed half board in the Crowne Plaza. They said it got boring doing the same thing every night and the quality of the food was only ok. You will also find when you are out and about during the day you will be rushing back for dinner in the hotel, whereas if you were on a bed only basis you can come and go and eat when you like. There are two big supermarkets, Jaffers and Spar, which both do fresh bread every morning, and have a wide selection of supplies, and if you have an apartment you can eat at your leisure, in your pj's if you like. There are many lovely restaurants to choose from in the evening.

my sister stayed in villa gale last year (b+b). she said after 2 mornings going down for the breakfast, she had enough and ended up having breakfast in a few of the local restaurants.

i definitely wouldn't tie yourself into half board, too many top class restaurants for you to try every evening...vilamoura marina is fab for eating out

try talk her out of it :)
