Wedding Ring Price Negotiation

Ok, so went and put a deposit on 2 wedding rings the other day - 300 euro deposit paid.

Im just wondering what discount I should expect to get off the remainder? I also bought the engagement ring in the same shop - so surely I should be getting a good 10-15%? Or maybe more?

Any help is appreciated - thanks

I wouldn't be expecting any discount. You should have negotiated one before you paid the deposit, but by paying a deposit you've effectively agreed to the marked price.

thanks for the really quick response -as it happens, I just got a call giving me around 165 off the marked price of the 2 rings....but having spent so much in the shop already, I was expecting more!

did you articulate this to the shop?

Alwyas finish a sentence with "Is that the best you can do for me on it" or if they offer 10%, say something like "Can you go to 20%". all they can say is no. But as long as you do it before you pay a deposit yo have wiggle room. Door is pretty much closed on negotiations once you've paid the money.

Could always ring up a couple of months later and say financial situation has changed, might have to pull out of the whole thing, can you do anything more for me. Ive had this a few times over the last 3 years. What can they say? No, and risk losing the whole lot even though they have your deposit? Be nice and nice things will happen.
