I ordered a Note 2 from O2 earlier. It's currently out of stock for the next week or so. Thing is, I just saw an ad for the Xperia Z. It looks amazing! Help!

Build quality and phone design on the xperia Z are top class. Note 2 is like a cheap Chinese knock off beside it. But I prefer the screen on the note plus the battery life on note is better. I know it's a full HD and details are great. The screen seems to be washed out to me

My BIL has an Xperia Z and was up with us this weekend so I got to play around with it a bit.

I prefer the size to the Note 2 (girlfriends phone which I use a lot), the Z seems to be a happy medium between the Nexus 4 and the Note 2. Build quality seemed really good, it's weighting in the hand felt fantastic - and we tested calling the phone while it was submerged in a jug of water ;)

The design is very pedestrian and bland though, and the screen seemed shockingly poor compared to the Note 2 when it came to colours/contrast. Also, the battery only seems to last half as long as the Note 2 - which isn't great.

Maybe I should keep my Note 2 order so.

My upgrade is almost due and like you I'm having trouble deciding, I've been waiting to get the Note 2 for months. I don't like the idea of having to open rubber plugs on the xperia to charge it or access the various ports. I know they're needed though....
Then comes the HTC One, I'm currently a desire hd user. This looks good and seems to have a lot going for it, battery life scares me..
I must be the one of a few people who don't care how good the camera is...
Then we have the Note 2. Jaysus I don't know....
How much did you pay for it by the way?

It's a free upgrade so I can choose any handset. I don't really care about the camera myself. It's more about the screen size really.

You should go into a store that has live demo's and look at the screens. Tbh in real life the detail in N2's screen is enough. Colour reproduction on N2 is far superior too, main advantage of N2 is the battery life, you can go ages with the N2 and you can swap batteries quickly.
