    Hi folks,

Our sister site Adverts.ie are running a photography competition to win a green iPad for St. Patricks day-to enter you need to take a photo of what makes you feel Irish and upload to their Facebook page here.

    Good luck!

    Hi Nicola,
I just went through to the Facebook page and it says, "Enter a photo of whatever gives you that Irish feeling then get your friends & family to vote for you to be in with a chance to win a brand new Ipad!"

Is this a photography contest or is it a popularity contest?

    Just another spam contest?

It most certainly isn't a photographic competition. Its a bit of a scam TBH. Photos not being judged on photgraphic merit = not a photography competition in any way. False and misleading.

Take a look at the two leading photos - cute kid in a dodgy green outfit and a cute dog in a dodgy green outfit. Awful sh1te as photography goes but one of them will "win" themselves a nice new iPad and more power to them. It shouldn't be touted as a photography competition though as it's clearly not based on photographic merit.

Meh not entering a competition like that
Even on the competition threads on boards, you can't put up any that involve voting etc.

Feic! No thanks, nothing to do with photography, wrong forum , is there a social media skills forum. Nicola?

Why do I have to 'like' the page before I can have a look?

Nevermind, the OH showed me a few and that was more than enough. Shame it's not an actual competition, based on merit.

For a lot of competitions on facebook you are forced to like it to enter.

In fairness folks, we thought this might be something you might be interested in-I did not realise there was a further voting element so for that my apologies. You're under absolutely no obligation to enter.

    Anyway, thread unstuck.

Im sure no harm was meant Nicola, but I'm sure you can also see why posting a supposed photography competition on a photography board where the winning photo is not judged on any kind of photographic merit might get a few peoples backs up.
