Low Flying Large Plane Near Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan Today?

Hi, we noticed a very large plane this morning flying very low and very slowly near Carrickmacross. It was definitely a large passenger type plane and not the small twin engine ones that we've seen a lot locally doing geological surveys. A bit like what you might see with a test flight near Dublin Airport. Any ideas what this might be, please?

At any time in particular? It might be able to play back the time on flightradar24 to see if it comes up.

It's the new Revenue plane doing a Google map update for LPT valuations

a good few planes were in holding while Dublin was snowed under

That's what I thought at first but they were all at around 13,000 to 15,000 ft

Thanks for suggesting flightradar24. Just enjoyed a good half an hour there! My husband doesn't know how he will get any work done tomorrow now that he has discovered that site!

Looks like as Rameire and Nimrod7 mentioned, maybe due to the snow at Dublin Airport there were lots of planes circling Nobber, Kells, Slane at that time of the morning. None of them seemed to be particularly low going by flightradar24, though. Ah well, a mystery...or the Revenue Plane after all :)

    Thanks everyone

What colour was it? Maybe it was an Air Corps CASA 235 making a low approach onto Baldonnell? Chances of it being that low above Carrickmines is still low

i live outside cootehill about 20 mls nortwest of carrickmacross . im often surprised at how low some stuff is on its way into dublin . its usually transatlantics perhaps a 330 might appear as a lower than normal 320 ? and as for flightradar24 it beats the hell out of trying to identify fly overs with binoculars 35 yrs ago when i grew up in dublin

    @ Op.

Both EI 124 and US722 came within 10KM of Carrickmacross yesterday morning while they were in hold waiting to land in Dublin. Particularly US722 was holding at 6000ft at around 8am so this is probably the aircraft you saw, it was in a hold for about 30mins before it diverted to Shannon. Follow this link for playback...
