What do you have in the rest of your build? How many games do you want to store on it? What kind of budget do you have?

dont really have a budget I just got a HD 7950 gpu was the last thing I was going to upgrade but I was told to get a ssd I had the money I play 4-5 games like wow sc2 bf3 lol etc. I only have a 500gb hd

Not much of an advantage to 2 over one really. Even a single 120GB would have enough space to have 4-5 games at a time on it including the OS, above that it depends how much you want to spend.

Personally id go for a 256gb one . You will fill it before you know it . Because once you go ssd its very hard go back . I have a samsung 830 and it is excellent . Other good ones are the crucial M4 or ocz vertex 4 or intel 520

I would recommend the setup I have: 2 X 60gb ssd's in RAID0 for OS and your top 3 most played games. I also have my documents and downloads folders reset to a secondary drive. SSD's are not really for media.

While ssd's have a faster access rate, their transfer speeds can be worse than traditional platters. A striped raid setup will give you the best of both worlds. And 60GB ssd's are relatively cheap.

Two of these drives wouldnt cost much more than €120, would add up to 120GB, and would satisfy most of your needs.

SSDs have worse transfer speeds than mechanical drives? That's very wrong. SSDs in RAID is almost always a complete waste as well; they don't benefit from the higher speed at all, and you double your chances of failure.

    A 256GB M4 or 840 Pro would do nicely.

From Wikipedia, under data transfer rate, but fair enough, I was basing my estimation on knowledge of earlier generations, when I was dealing with windows (lots of small blocks being read/written during boot). Seems that the newer generations have closed this gap considerably.

I've got an 830 and 840 pro, would highly recommend both

If you have battlefield with all the premium DLC a 120gb ssd won't be big enough, unless that's the only game you play :p

I had 2 baracudas in RAID on my SATA2 mobo and they could reach 270mb/s. Recently I moved to ssd OCZ Vertex (180mb/s write - 250mb/s read) and belive me - it's fabulously faster!!! I presume its faster than CPU/RAM can use it. If I would get SATA3 (600mb/s) mobo this could be improved, but at the moment I don't need any faster drive.

What worries me more is high prices for ssd drives. There was big decrease before Xmas but since then prices even went UP!! I've got my 60GB vertex for €45, and I can't see anything even close to this level.
